Flegal, dee'd, has . been changed to Tuesday of June Court in the Bor ough of Clearfield, See advertisement. t FiK.-We learn that on lasTsaturday eve ring the dwelling House of Samuel Troy, a tulle north of Luberburg in Brady township, this county, was destroyed by fire, with most ot Its contents. We have not learned the particulars. .-.-- LcTHtRSBCRO Hotel. We direct attention to the advertisement of William Reed, lately of this place, who has taken the above house, located In Luthersbnrg, Clearfleld county. Every effort will no doubt be made by Mr. Reed to render satisfaction to those who lavor him with their, enstom. IxjcbD by a Hoese. On Saturday the 12th lost., Mr. John Croell of Bradford township, was severely injured by a stallion, at Robert Owens' in Lawrence township. The horse, it teems, became rcfactory, and when Mr. Croell undertook to chastise him, the animal turned vnblm, bit him on the temple and jaw, and fcruUed him ia the side. His wounds were dressed by ft physician, and he was In a fair way of recovery, at last accounts. Patkst Newspaper File. Joseph B. Mc Eaatly, Esq , of this place, presented ns yes terday with a conple newspaper files, which for convenience and cheapness exceed any thing of the kind that has heretofore been in ose. He Is having tour sizes manufactured. The retail prices will range from 23 to 45 cts., including the wires which pass through each sheet. The files are made to hold one years' papers. A meeting of the Clearfield County Agricultural Society will be held in the Town Jlall in Clearfield Borough, on Monday evening, June 18th, (court week.) The everal Vice Presidents are requested to make """return to this meeting of any monies they may have received; and their presence is especially desired, as it is proposed then to take action about hokling a Fair the coming tall. Elli3 Irwin, Prcst. N. B. An election of officers will also be held. CflASOtD Hands. A change will shortly fake place in the Clearfield Republican, George D. Goodlandev, Esq., having purchased one lialf of the establishment. The present edi tor, we understand, will continue his labors until the 1st f July, when he will relinquish (he tripod to Mr. Goodlander. Though dif fering widely with George in politics,he being a rather rank Democrat according to our no tion, we regard him as a clever fellow and wish Lim pecuniary success in bis new enterprize. We often hear people say they don't read the advertisements in a newspaper. If they tell the truth, all we have to say is, they loose tialf the value of the paper thereby. There is nothing in any paper not even the best conducted local column that so truthfully re flects the business, character and population cf a city or county as tho advertisements in the newspapers. Show us a paper well filled wUh business adverti3ements,and we will show you a town prosperous in all its relations, sur tounded by a community intelligent, enter prising and wealthy. Ixcian R em aiss Focsd. Last Friday, whilst the workmen employed at grading Market St. were digging between the Clearfield House and O. L. Reed's residence, they dug up portions of two skeletons, supposed to le the remains of Indians who had been buried there. They were fonnd at a depth of about four feet under tte-original surface of the ground. One of the skulls and some of the bones are but little decayed, whilst others aro entirely gone. One of tho lower jv.vs having lost its angle, shows that it belonged to an aged person ; the other retained the teeth in a state of good preserva tion, and is doubtless that of a child of per haps 12 or 14 years of age. rnairsBCEQ & Waterford Railroad. The Clarion Democrat complains that no mention has been made by "the lazy press" about a meeting to be held in that place by the friends of the above road. W. R. LATEST NEWS FROM HARPER'S FERRY. Brown, the leader of the Insur rection, found sf iltv of RIarder arid Treason in the First degree. The above named 'insurrection' caused a great deal of gas to be let off by leading politicians and the political press of this great country, and in fact, the majority of the people of all parties, were more or less excited on reading the first account c-f the insurrection some of tho papers trying to make political capital out of the affair and others making light of the matter. But if it had been an Italian strike for Freedom a- gainst their lawful sovereign, led on by Maczinni or Garibaldi, the Press of this country, with but one exception, would call meetings and pass reso lutions and solicit subscriptions to aid them in their so called patriotio work ; but amidst all this inconsistency there is one man that is not the least interested in the fate of Brown or his companions, and that one is Frank Short of the Short Shoe Shop on Second street, where he will be found at all times readv and willine to wait nnon persons calling on him for anything in the Boot, Shoe or Gaiter line. It is a fact that, at some period, every mem ber of the human family is" subject to diseaso or disturbance of the bodily functions; but, with the aid of a good tonic and the exercise of plain com mon sense, they may be able so to regulate the sys tem as to secure permanent health. In order to ac complish this desired object, the true course to pur sue is certainly that which will produce a -natural state of things at the least hazard of vital strength and mo. tor this purpose, Dr. Jiostetter has in troduccd to this country a preparation bearing his name, which is not a new medicine, but one that has been tried for years, giving satisfaction to all who have used it. The Bitters operate powerfully upon the stomach, bowels, and liver, restoring" them to a healthy and vigorous action, and thus, by the simple process of strengthening nature, ena ble the system to triumph over disease. For the cure of Dyspepsia, Indigestion, Nausea, Flatulency, Loss of Appotite, or Bilious complaints, arising from a morbid inaction of the Stomach or Bowels, producingCramps,Dysentary,Cholic,Chol- cra Morbus, Ac, these isitters have no equal. Diarrhoea, dysentery or flux, so generally con tracted by new settlers, and caused principally by the change of water and diet, will be speedily reg ulated by a brief use of this preparation. Dyspep sia, a disease which is probably more prevalent, in all its various forms, than any other, and the cause of which may always be attributed to de rangements of the digestive organs, can be cured without fail by using HOSTETTER'S STOMACH BITTERS, as per directions on the bottle." For this disease every physician will recommend Bit ters of some kind; then why not use an article known to be infallible ? All nations have their Bitters, as a preventive of disease and strengthen cr of the system in general; and among them all there is not to be found a more healthy people than the Germans, from whom this preparation em anated, based upon scientific experiments which have tended to prove the value of this great pre paration in the scale of medical science. Fever axd Ague. This trying and provoking disease, which fixes its relentless grasp on the bo dy of man, reducing him to a mere shadow in a short time, and rendering him physically and men tally useless, can be driven from the body by the use of HOSTETTER'S RENOWNED BITTER'S. Further, none of the above-stated diseases can be contracted, even in exposed situations, if the Bit ters are used as per directions. And as they nei ther create nausea nor offend the palate, and ren der unnecessary any change of diet or interrup tion of ordinary pursuits, but promote sound sleep and hcalty digestion, and the complaint is remo ved as speedily as is consistent with the produc tion of a thorough and permanent cure. For Persons-in Advanced Years, who are suffer ing from an enfeebled consitution and infirm body, these Bitters are invaluable as a restorative of strength and vigor, and need only be triod to be appreciated. And to a mother while nursing these Bitters are indispensable, especially where the mo ther's nourishment is inadequate to the demands of the child, consequently ber strength must yield, and here it is where a good tonic, such as HostcU ter's Stomash Bitters, is needed to impart tempo rary strength and vigor to the system. Ladies should by all means try this romedy for all ca ses of debility, and, before io doing, should ask their physician, who, if he is acquainted with the virtue of the Stomach Bitters, will recommend their use in all cases of weakness. Caution. We caution the public against using any of the many imitations or counterfeits, but ask for Hostettes Celebrated Stomach Bitters, and see that each bottle has the words "Dr. J. Uostetter'a Stomach Bitters" blown on the side of the bottle, and stamped on the metalhe cap covering the cork. and observe that our autograph signature is on the label.
