A Tree Climbing Maniac The St. Clairs
vllle Chronicle says that a young man, afflicted
with an unconquerable propensity for climb
ing trees was sent to the Belmont County In
firniaty last week. He had been an inmate of
the Ohio Lunatic Asylum, and discharged as
cured, but his malady returned, and the poor
fellow was determined to "go up." Whenev
er he bad a chance he would ascend to the
top of the nearest tree. On Friday week he
was found some sixty feet up a tree, on the
bili above Bcllair, and it was with tho greatest
difficulty he could be induced to come down
to earth again.
An old woman, who was in the habit of de
claring after the occurrence of any unusual
event, that she bad predicted it, was one day
Tery cleverly 'sold' by her worthy spouse, who,
like many another we wot of, bad got tiled of
hearing her eternal "I told you so."
Rushing into the house, breathless with ex
citement, he dropped into bis chair, elevated
his hands, and exclaimed : "Oh, wife ! wife !
what what do you think 7 Tho old brindle
cow bas gone and eat up our grindstone !" F!
The old lady was ready, and hardly waiting
to hear the last word, she screamed out at the
top of her lungs : "I told you so, you old
fool ! I told you so ! You always would let
It stand out-a-doors !"
