AlK Jordan is a hard road to travel .
TheXebraskaites think they'll come it mighty fine,
'While the Pope ia m treadin' np behind 'em ;
But the freemen are so thick,they;ll give 'em such
a lick,
That the Pope nor the De'il cannot find era.
CH0RC8.
Then pull off your coa,boys,and roll np your sleeves
For Jordan ia a hard road to travel,
go take offyourcoat,boys, and roll up your sleeves,
For Jordan ia a hard road to travel, I believe.
Oh, they went to Cincinnati, for to find a big gnn,
And they loaded np a "ten-cent" Boo-cannon;
Cut they 11 find him at the polls either flash'd in
the pan,
Or busted to the other side of Jordan.
We will send Fremont out, in search of the lost,
Those principles of Jefferson accordin' ;
And Kansas shall be free, and that cursed slavery,
Shall be sent to the other side of Jordan.
For John C. Fremont ia the man that we want,
And Dayton, too, will work in the traces;
Then cast in your votes, boys, put him in the chair.
Which Pierce now so wofully disgraces.

IMPORTANT TO HOUSEKEEPERS and
FRUIT GROWERS ARTHUR'S PAT
ent Air-Tiffht Self-Sealin Cans and Jars, for
Preserving Fresh Fruits, c This invention for
wnicn a patent has been obtained, commends it
self to the attention of Housekeepers and others,
on account of its great simplicity, and the effectu
al manner in which it accomplished a very desi
rable and useful object
The cans and jars are constructed with a chan
nel around the mouth, near the top, into which
tho cover fits loosely. This channel is filled with
a very adhesive cement, prepared for the purpose
and allowed to harden. In order to seal tho ves
sel hermetically, it is only necessary to heat the
cover slightly, and press it into place. It may be
opened with as much ease as it is closed, by slight
ly warming the top. The ordinary tin cans, used
for the same purpose for which this is intended,
cannot be closed, nsis well known without the aid
of a tinner; are difficult to open, and are generally
so much injured iu opening as to bo useless for
future service.
By this simple contrivance, the process of hcr
mctical sealing is plnced conveniently within the
reach of every individual; and fruit, vegetables
and butter (if properly prepared) may be kept,
with their natural flavor unimpaired, tor an in
definite length of time. For sale by

We need not speak to the public of Its virtues.
Throughout every town, and almost every hsnilet of tha
American States, its wonderful cures of pulmonary com
plaints have made it already known. Kay. few are tha
families in any civilized conntry on this continent without
some personal experience of its effects; and fewer yet ths
communities any where which have not among them
some living trophy of its victory over the subtle and dsn
gerons diseases of the throat and lungs. VI ltile it is the
most powerful antidote yet known to man for the formi
dable and dangerous diseases of the pulmonary organs, it
is also the pleasantest and safest remedy that can be em-
Eloyed for infants and yonng persons. Parents should
ave it in store against the insidious enemy that steals
upon them unprepared. "We Lave abundant grounds to
believe the CiiekkT Pictosal saves more lives by the con
sumptions It prevents than those it cures. Keep it by
you, and cure your colds while they are curable, nor neg
lect them until no human skill can master the inexorable
canker that, fastened on the vitals, eats your life away.
All know the dreadful fatality of lnngdisordcrs, and as
they know too the virtues of this remedy, we need not do
more than to assure them it is still made the best it can
be. We spare no cost, no rare, no toil to produce it ths
most perfect possible, and thus afford those who rely on
it the best agent which our skill can furnish for their cure.
