cnt Air-Trh.t Self-Sealing Cans and Jar, for
Preserving Fresh Fruits, &c. This invention for
which a patent has been obtained, commends it
ECif to the attention of Housekeepers and others,
on account of its great simplicity, and the effectu
al manner in which it accomplished a very desi
rable and useful object
Tho cans and jars are constructed with a chan
nel around the mouth, near the top, into which
tho cover fits loosely. This channel is filled with
a very adhesive cement, prepared for the purposo
and allowed to harden. In order to seal the ves
sel hermetically, it it only uecexir.ry to halt the
cover slightly, aiul press it into place. It may be
opened with as much case as it is closed, by slight
ly warming the top. The ordinary tin can3. used
for the same purpose for which this is intended,
cannot be clo3eJ. asi3 well known without tho nid
of a tinner; are difficult to open, and arc generally
po much injured ia opening as to bo useless fur
future service.
By this simple contrivance, tho process of hcr

reach of every individual; and fruit, vegetables
and butter (if properly prepared) may lio kept,
with their natural flavor unimpaired, lor an ia
