Restaurant Tn Fiioo Swamp" in the eastern part of cur borough is a decidedly bad thing. On a warm day, "the rankest compound of villain, ous smell that ever offeuded nostril," as Billy Shakespeare says, pervades the atmosphere in its vicinity. The foul effluvia that arises is putting tc jeopardy the health of our citizens; lor we believe it is a fact that the gases gene rated in such places, though they are specially adapted to plants and vegetation, are offensive to onr nostrils, unsuHed to our lungs, and noxious to our system. Some immediate ac tion should, therefore, be taken to hare the swamp drained and filled up. The water could be drawn off by undt-rdraining ; and charcoal and coal ashes could be spread over the sur lace, and would answer not only-Tor filling up, but as a disinfecting agent. Whether this would be a practicable mode of proceeding or not, we won't pretend to assert. Some means uf removing the nuisance should, however, be employed, and that speedily. We trust the matter will at once be deemed worthy the attention of our citizens. Xsw Anv KP.TisEMtxT. Attention is direct ed to the new advertisements in to-day's Jour .Dr. J. G. DAVIS, Executor. All UMAX LIFE SAVED ! Vowagiac, Mich., March 11, 1S36. J. A. RHODES, Esq : Dear Sir As I took your medicine to sell on consignment, lino cure no pay,''" I take pleasure in stating its e fleets as reported to mo by three brothers who live in this ploco, and their testimony is a fair rpecimon of all I have re cti ved : W. S. Conklin told me ;I had taken nine bot tles of Christie's Ague Balsa n, and continually ran down while using it until mv lungs and liver were L Congested to that degree that blood discharged from mv mouth and bowels, so that all thought it impossible for me to live through another chill. The doctors too did all they could for me. but tho't I must die. Nothing did me any good until I got Rhode's Fever and Ague Cure, which at once re lieved mc of the distress and nausea at my stomach and pain in my head and bowels, and produced a permanent cure in a short time. - II. M. Conklin says: "I had been taking medi cine of as good a doctor as we have in our county, and tuken any quantity of quinine and specifics without any good result, from 23th August to 17th December. But seeing how nicely it operated on my brother, I got a bottle of Khodes' Fever and A guo Cure, which effected a permanent cure by us ing two-thirds of a bottle.1' , ti. M. Conklin was not here, but both the other brothers say his case was the same as 11. M's. I sold the incdicino to both tho samo day, and the cure was os speedy from the same small quantity, and I might so specily. lours with respect, - A. HUNTINGTON. The above speaks for itself. Gooa proof as it is, it is of no better tenor than the vast number of like certificates I have already published, and the still greater smount that iscontinually pouring in to mc. tine thing more. Last year I had occasion to cau tion the public in these words: iiotier one Jinn tt'ho have taken one of my general circulars, sufr stitutrd the- name of their nostrum for my virji cine, and thru with brazen impudence end their pamphlet with the exclamation, -Jjetthe proprietor of any other medicine say as much if he darn''ffC Now I take pleasure in saying that the caution referred to the same '-Pr-Uhnstio s Aguo Ualiam that is mentioned in the above certificate. There are several other industrious people who are applying to their poisonous uasn an inai l publish about my Fever and Aguo Cure, or Anti dote to Malaria, except the certificates of cures, and the certificate of the celebrated Chemist, Dr. James K. Chilton, of N. Y., in favor of its perfect ly harmless character, which is attached to every bottle. These will always servo to distinguish my medicine from imitations. JAi. A.
