RriiGiors Notice. Next Sunday, being the
13th inst., by Divine permission, services will
be resumed in the Episcopal Church in this
borough. The recent death of John Litz, one
of the Sunday School scholars of the church,
will furnish a solemn occasion for a special ad
dress to the scholars of the Sunday School, in
the' afternoon at three o'clock. The parents
and relatives of the deceased, and all his asso
ciates, are earnestly and respectfully invited
to attend. ; .
Montelics & Ten Etck, in Curwensville,
hare recived their spring stock of goods, and
say they are determined to do things up
brown," in the way of selling cheap gods of
a superior quality. See their advertisement

OfE ed Oct, Again ! The 'Mansion Honse"
in this place having been taken by Samuel
Evans, was opened out on Monday for the ac
commodation of the public. We have no doubt
that Mr. Evari3 will mate "a popular landlord
and will cater to the wants of his customers in
t he best manner. . ; ' -

Gone at Last. On Sunday last the anxious
ly awaited and long looked for breaking up of
tho ice on the Susquehanna took place. On
Monday the construction of rafts commenced,
and in a day or two they will be gliding down
the river in great numbers.
Thi Roads are; in a very bad condition
The mails arrive here semi-occasionally, aver
aging about two iu ' three days between this
and Tyrone. Don't know' how they arc in
some directions, as there are places we havn't
heard from for about a week or so. -
Kail Road Meetisg. Pursuant to general
notice, a meeting of the friends of the Tyrone
and ClearGeld Railroad was held at Shimmel's
School Uousc, fir Boggs township, "on Satur
day, 29th day of March. It was organized by
calling Josas II. Peters, Esq., to the chair,
and appointing Maj. D. J. Hough and James
Tomer, Esq., Presidents ; Mr. C. J. Hinds was
elected Secretary. The President, on taking
the chair, stated the object of the meeting,
and in a few pertinent remarks, urged upon all
piesent the advantage of subscribing to the
stock of the road. On motion, James E. Mont
gomery, Esq., of.Philipsburgh, addressed the
meeting at some length, and was followed l3
Maj. Hough, in answer to a general call, and
by Col. B. C. Montgomery, a member of the
Philadelphia Bar. After which the subscrip
tion books of the company were opened and a
number of shares were subset ibed, with pledges
of others when the company is organized. On
motion, the proceedings of this meeting be
signed by the officers, and ordered to be print
ed "in the "Clearfield Republican," "Rafts
man's Journal," "and "Iron Democrat," of Ty
rone. On motion the meeting adjourned with
three good and hearty cheers for the success
and perpetuity of the Tyrone and Clearfield

and Elizabeth Orr, of Bell township, aged 8
years, 8 months and 12 days. - , , ?

vid Litz, of this borough, aged about 11 years.
, A Cave in Blair Coott. The Hollidays
lnug Standard states that recently Maj. B. F.
Bell, of Antis township, in order to facilitate
the operation forgetting limestone to his kiln,
located at the foot of a knob, opposite his res
idence, made an opening near the apex of the
knob, so as to be enabled to slide the stones to
the top of the kiln. The workmen had not
xcavatedto any great depth before they made
an opening into a cave. Some little explora
tion was made directly after the opening, but
not sufficient to determine the . extent. ,, One
large chamber.was found near the opening,"
which was found to contain a large number of
grotesque figures and pendants ' of stalactite
from tho dome of the cavern.'" It is the inten
tion of the Major, as soon as opportunity offers,
to have this natural curiosity thoroughly ex
plored. '''.
Melancholy Case of Insanity The Green
field Gazette says that Alexander Wheelock,'
cf Orange, who has of late exhibited strong
symptons of insanity, rsccntly went to Boston
and purchased two expensive coffins, two pairs
of grave-sfones and a revolver.' Soon after his
anival home,' he attacked his wife, dischar
ging three barrels of the revolver at her, but
without effect. His revolver was taken from
him by force. Soon after he attacked his wife
with -a clnb, slightly Injuring ter.t.HeJhen
attempted to take his own life by cutting his
throat with a razor, but was frustrated in the

DISSOLUTION. The partnership heretofore
existing between .Alfred Montelius, Edward
Montelius aud. William Ten Eyck was mutual
ly dissolved on the 1st day of March. 1856. The
