LEGISLATIVE REGISTER:
Many of our subscribers have expressed
a desire to see a regular narrative of pro-
ceedings, in our state legislature. For the
information of such persons, and of the
public in general, we give information;
that a capable hand has been employed for
that purpose ;'and that the legislative pro-
ocedings will pe weckly, and faithfully re-
gistered in the Chronicle. Three or four
columns of every sheet will be devoted
to that department—To give the debates
at length is not the intention. If however,
debates on general and important points do
take place, some of the speeches will be
given in full.
The editor inwites such ‘as wish to bave
the legislative proceedings, to attend to it
early that there may be ro breach in the
narrative. Subscriptions for the Chion cle
will be taken for 4 months, at 75cts. to be
paid in advauce. :

fraying tne expenses of government, and
maintaining the public credit, by laying du-
ties on various goods, wares and merchan-
dise, manufactured within the U St ates,’
passed January 18, 18135, every person who
shall, after the 18th day of April 1815, man-
ufacture within the United States any of the
hereinafter enumerated articles for sale, is
required to give bond and pay the duty'as
specified in said act, and to perform other
duties, under penalties therein prescribed :

That the manufacturer may be corre ctly
advised of the duties incumbent upon him
10 discharge, a copy of the said act of Con-
gress has been printed, which, with the an-
nexed forms of statements required from
a manufacturer, will be furnished to him,
by the collector, on demand.
The collector will also furnish, on de-
‘mand, blank bonds, and such other blanks
as will enable the manufacturer to comply
with the several provisions of law.

NOTICE
1S HEREBY GIVEN, That agreeably
to the act of Congress, entitled « Au act te
provide aaditional revenues for defraying
the expences of Government and maine
taining public credit by laying duties on
spirits distilled within the United States
and territories thereof, and by amending
the act laying duties on licences to distiliers
of spirituous liquors, passed December 21,
1814, every person who shal} after the first
day of February, 1813, distil spirits,
withinthe United States, is required, in ad
dition to the duty on the ficence already
taken, or hereafter to be taken by him te
pay twenty cents a gallon on ail spirits diss
tilled after that day, or subject to the limi-
tation in the said act expresscd, to pay
twenty five certs a gallon on all such spi
rits, in whicl: case no licence is required te
be taken, aii! tnat agreeably to the said ace
a bond is required previous to the said day,
to be given to the collector, and other duties
required to be performed under penalties
therein prescrbed.
. That the distiller may be correctly ad-
vised ol the duties .incumbent on him te
discharge, an abstract of the several acts of
Congress subjecting stills and boilers, ard
spirits to duty, hag Leen prepared; » copy of
which with annexed forms of state-
ments required from a d:stiller, will be fur-
ished to him by the Collector on demand,

bonds, and such other blanks as will enable
the distiler to comply with the several pros
visions of law.
