Kittanning Uniorsity.-ITaving obtained a charter

tended also to combine a law and agricultural

Arun Hurry.--It gives us unfeigned pleasure to
announce that at ten o'clock last evening tho sytny ,
toms of Miss Henry for recovery were more favor 4.
than they have been at any time since the unior
tunato occurrence which endangered her life. The
report of the physicians last evening was very en.
couraging. Still she is not out of danger--:-no in
flammation has yet sot ir, but it may at any time
take place. Tho house is continually besieged by
vilitorS and friends all anxiously inquired ..ftor the
health of Miss H. The entire community manifest
a deep and painful interest in the result of this
melancholy affair, indeed much greater than is usual.
We, in common with all the community, sincerely
trust that the present favorable symptoms may con
tinue, and that the unfortunate young girl may soon
be restored to health and usefulness.
Smithson was committed for further hearing to
day, but Mayor Weaver will not examine him, and a
further commitment will be lodged against him until
the result of Miss Henry's wound is ascertained.
Mr. Taylor.—lt is pleasant, in these days of inno
vation and hum buggery, to w IILUFS occasionally a
meritorious renresentat on of the legitimate drama,
such as was offered at " Porter's Pittsburgh Theatre,"
last evening, when the sterling old play of " Dansun
and Pythias " was presented: The cast of characters
was excellent, and each part was well executed.
Mr. J. 11. Taylor, who. will bo remembered by many
of Gov. Porter's old piratic, as ca young actor with
all the elements of eucco3c, suzitioci the character
of Daman, and we Are constrLCn.,d to say that his
conception and executi•en of the meaning
were both excellent, and that a; a whole his acting
was far superior to anything we have lately soon on
Pittsburgh boards. He is destined to make hie
mark in his profession. The P Mr. M'Far -
land was good, and the other players acquitted them
selves creditably. This evening, the classical play
of the "Bridal" will be presented, with an excellent
cast.
Up A9ain.—Thomas Gallagher end some other
persons will have a hearing before Mayor Weaver
to-day, on a charge preferred by Andrew Sheehan,
who alleges that on Monday morning, at one o'clock,
they went to his house and asked him to let them in,
representing themselves as members of the night
watca. Oae of them called himself Gabriel Kelly.
Sheehan admitted them, when they took what they
wanted to eat, and after raising a great disturbance,
wont away. Warrants were issued.

A Bootless Intlividiml.—Brueo Young was arrested
yesterday morning and taken before Mayor Weaver,
charged with the larceny of a pair of boots from the
shop of John Koehler, on Hand street. The miss
ing boots wore found on tio. and restored to
their owner, whi'e the prig ore florin;; his eearch for
the bail imposed, would have been obliged to go boot
less, had it not boon for the kindness of the Mayor,
n-ho provided him with another pair.
Preßentation.—On Saturday evening, the members
of the Vigilant Fire Company held a meeting, and,
through R. Biddle Roberts, Esq., presented to Mr.
Jamcs Irwin, formerly a captain of the company, a
very neat gold-headed cane, the wood of which was
taken from the wheel of an old hose carriage. The
inscription on the head is, " Presented by the Vigi.
last Fire Company to Mr. James Irwin, September
11th, 1855."
A Mon named Peter Graff, some thirty years of
ago, arrived in this city on Saturday last from the vi
cinity of Port Perry, and was conveyed to the hospi
tal of Dr. Waters, where be is suffering from a terri.
bly swollen limb. He fell from a hay stack ono day
last week, and on alighting was struck by a pitch
fork, which penetrated the upper part of his right
leg, inflicting a revere wound.
Discharged.—Georgn Krighofer, who accused his
wife Lavinia of bigamy, having failed to appear and
prosecute the case, she has been discharged. It is
more than likely the charge was a ruse to get rid of
her. She has made an affidavit against him for per
jury.
Boat Bare.—A race took place on Saturday after
noon, between a brace of two-oared boats, the
" Gleams " and "J. C. Andersou." At the outset
the "Anderson " broke an oar, while the " Manaus "
rowed over the course and took the purse.
The Delegates elected on Saturday from South
Pittsburgh, to the Convention to.morrow, were Rob
ert M'Mahan and John S. Murray.
Bowman & Co :—My wife was troubled with cough
and pain in the breast for five years—the last two of
which she was very low indeed. I procured' some

The Minstrels.—Tho Morris Bros., Pell and Trew•
bridge Minstrels opened at Masonic Hall last even,
ing to a house crowded to its utmost capacity, and
were enthusiastically received. They have, if pos
sible, improved since their last appearance amongst
us, and return with a host of now and original jokes,
burlesques, songs, dances, ac., which must sustain
their well earned popularity. The "M'Dlll Darrell
Brothers," "The Crow Family," and other novelties,
brought down the house, while Billy Morris' " Mock.
ing Bird " and " Peter Gray," and Diok Blitzes
dancing, wore as enthusiastically received as on
their first appearance. We congratulate the corn.
pany on their success, and hope, as we believe, it
will continue during their stay.
Novelty.—Thero is fun in store for tomorrow
night. We learn that the mysterious and unique
Order of the Sons of Malta will form a proceseiun,
un horseback, and march through the principal
streets. Both men and horses will be dressed in the
habiliments of the Order usually worn on such occa•
slone.
On Watch.—DuringiSaturday night, officer Knox
was on duty in the rear of 11.1 ye & Gotty'e Hardware
store, on Market street, awaiting the appearance of
the person supposed to have stolen abarrol of wilisky
which was found there. No one making their ap
pearanco, the barrel was taken to the Mayor's office,
where the owner can find it.
John Baker fell from one of the piers of the new
Birmingham bridgo, last evening, and was seriously
hurt. He was looking over the end of the pier, ex
amining the work, when ho lost his balance. He
was not one of the hands employed on the bridge, but
bad worked for the contractors at the quarry.
We have not observed the eters recently which
were so regularly worn by our dsy police, about the
time of their adoption. Why do they nut show

We, the subscribers, Ministers of the Gospel, and members
of the Pittsburgh Annual Confereaos of the Methodist Epis

the character of Dr. R. A. Wilson's Tonic, Cathartic, and
Anti-Dyspeptic Mlle, are prepared to, and now state with
pleasure, in this communication, that we know them to be
an excellent medicine, and, as such, recommend their use
to our friends and acquaintances, not only as a specific for
Sick-Headache and Dyspepsia for which they are recom

for the prevention and removal of Bilious attacks, etc.

Extract of a letter from Col. Camp, an elderly gentleman of

I do most earnestly hope that you will adopt some plan
to supply us with your most excellent Anti-Dyspeptic Pill.
I have been in the habit of using it myself, and in my fami
