chaste, classic, and must graceful females we have ever seen
on the saddle. F. LI. Itosston rides the six horses dexter

Shd'wles wore highly successful in adding to the interest of
the occasion. The animals—the rhinoceros, camel, mules
and elephant—did well, nod the spectacle of " The Flitch of
Bacon" is quite instructive, and cnnveys a correct idea of
the fetes of the olden times in "Merritt England." This
afternoon the American Humorist, Dan Rice, will introduce
his wonderful steed, Excelsior. To-msrrow evening the
"Great Show" will close, as it is advertised to play in
Mlieesport on Thursday, the 6th Inst.
Burglary
On Sunday night or Monday morning, the hardware
establishment of Robert Dunlap, Jr., on Market street,
was entered by a burglar and a considerable quantity of
fine cutlery carried cif. As soon as it was diecovered, the
police were placed on their guard. and at an early hour on
Monday morning, 11 young man of good exterior went into
Bcasley's office, on Smithfield street, and wanted to pawn a
package of pertkuivEs. Two officers were aeon cn hand, and
he waft arrested. The gentiertan called himself Robert Ell
more, but it is probable this is a fictitious name trumped up
fur the occasion. The cutlery was identified as a portion of
what was abstracted from Mr. Lunlap's store; but being of
opinion that the remainder was in his possession, a search was
made through the hotel?, and at the Washington House, on
P. nn street, n trunk was found belonging to Ellmore, whicb
proved to contain the missing goods. They consisted chiefly
of fine penknives and the whole lot is worth between three
and four hundred (Idlers. The prisoner finally acknowl
edged his guilt, tits evidence against him being direct. It
is embattle that others were connected with him in this
transaction, but they have not yet been arrested. A pen
knife was al o found in the trunk which it seems Nsys one of
a number taken tak , n fain Whitmore, Wolff
street, same time since. lie has a number of ensures, and
tells a number of different stories as to his resid.nce. He
. wai committed for ilial.
