THE CHEMICAL OLIVE ERASIVE
SOAP, manufactured by 11. C. it J. rawyer, r,
receives the preference over all other kinds ever offend for
family use.
Its advantages over other Foaps are :-Ist It Is cbeaper
to use, one pound being equal to three of common rosin
Soap. 2d. Half the time need only be occupied in washing
when this Soap is used in place of other Soap. 3d. Labor
in wailing can to nearly clspensed with, as the clothes
will require little if any rubbing, thus avoiding their wear
on the wash•board. 4th. Idoiling the clothes is unnecessary
when this Soap is used, and hard or salt water answers
equally as well as soft. sth. Printers, Machinists, Painters
and others, find it far superior to other Soaps. It speedily re
moves grease, tar, paint, printers ink and dirt from the
hands, leaving the skin molt, and free from chapping.
To avoid the labor of rubbing the clothe; and the USG of
the wash-bo .rd, the following directions should be followed :
For the washing of eight or ten of a family, take one
pound of Soap, cut it into shavings, and dissolve la one
gallon of hot water; put tau clothes into a tub containing
about tea gallons of warm water; pour in the dissolved
Soap, and stir thoroughly. Let them soak twenty to thirty
minutes, wring out, and rinse in worm water once, cold
water twice. A very dirty wrist-band, or seam, or grease
apzte, may require a slight rubbing, but otherwise the
clothes will come out clean and white, without rubbing or
boiling. Cold water may be used in place of hot, requiring
about double time in soaking.

In attributing such valuable properties to this remedy, ne
rash or unwarrantable assertion fit made, lbut is simply stated
a fact ; proven undeniably and conclusively by the extraur.
dinary cures, and benefits derived from its use, under the di
rection of its illustrious originator, Dr. Hoofland, among sit
classes of European society, and from the immense UMW of
testimony, from all
parts of the American continent, scour
mutated during the lust ton years, in the hands of the pres
ent proprietor. The prevalence of diseases to which the
German Bitters are adapted, it is with sorrow we say it, is al
most universal; indeed there is scarcely a family throughout
the whole extent of oar country in which there cannot be
found among its members that peculiar sallino and Languid
appearance denoting a diseased Liver, or an emaciated end
suffering Dyspeptic.
Then of what immense iruportanceto this class of invalid
that a certain and reliable remedy should be placed withi '
their reach; one in which no baneful or injurious drug ens
tern into its composition • a remedy on which the patient can
iely with the utmost confidence and certainty, and be assured
from actual and tangible proofs that the article he is using
really possesses the virtues attributed to it. Such a remedy
as "HCOFLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS." Thousands o
dollars have been expended hi its manufacture and diffusion
throughout all parts of this continent, and the proprietor
feels the greatest satisfaction in stating that there is no
state, county, or even village, where the Medicine has been
introduced, that there cannot be found numbers willing
testify to its virtues.
It is used constantly in the practice of a large number u
the most prominent Physicians in the country, who have
also added their written testimony in evidence in its great
virtues. In conclusion, 'then, we would ruspevtfully ask ul
all those afllicted with any of the above diseases to give the
Bitters a trial, and rest assured it will never be regretted.
In proof of the atatenteuts above made, all aro invited to
read attentively the Almanac published annually by the pro
prietor, for Farmers and Families, containing a great sum
tier of useful receipts, in addition to the testimony in favor
of the Bitters, from the most prominent and well known in.
dividnals in all parts of the Union. All Agents for the Bit
ters are authorized to distribute the Almanac gratuitously.

diseases, eruptions upon the face, pain in le back and head,
female irregularities and all improper discharges from both
sexes. It matters not from what cause the disease origins
ted, however long standing or obstinate the case, recovery
certain, and in a shorter time than a permanent cure can be
effected by any other treatment, oven after the distant) has
baffled the skill of eminent physicians and resisted ail the r
means of care. The medicines aro pleasant without odor,
causing nu sickness and free from mercury or balsam. Dur
ing twenty years of practice, I have rescued from the jaws
of death many thousands, who, in the last stages of the
above mentioned diseases had been given up to die by theft
physicians, which warrants me in promising to the afflicted,
who may place themselves under my care, a perfect and
most speedy care. Secret, diseases are the greatest enemies
to health, as they are the first cause of Consumption, Scro
fula and many other diseases, and should be a terror to the
human family. As a permanent cure is scarcely ever effect
ed, a majority of the cases falling into the hands of incom
petent persons, who not only fail to care the diseases but
ruin the constitution, filling the system with mercury,
which, with the disease,: hastens the sufferer Into a rapid
Consumption.
But should the disease and the treatment not cause death
speedily, and the victim marries, the disease in entailed
upon the children, who are born with feeble constitutions,
and the current of life corrupted by a virus which betrays
itself in Scrofula, Tatter, Ulcers, Eruptions and other affec
tions of the skin, eyes throat and lungs, entailing upon
them a brief existence of: suffering and consigning them to
an early grave.
SELF ABUSE is another formidable enemy to health, tot
nothing else in the dread catalogue of human diseases causes
so destructive a draiu upon the system, drawing its thou
sands of victims through a few years of suffering down to an
untimely grave. It destroys the nervous system, rapidly
wastes away the energies of life, causes mental derangement,
prevents the proper development of the system, disqualifies
for marriage, society, business, and all earthly happiness,
and leaves the sufferer wretched in body and mind, predis
posed to Consumption and a train of evils more to be
dreaded than death itself. With the fullest confidence I en
sure the unfortunate victims of Sell:Abuse that a permanent
and speedy care can be effected, and with the abandonment
of ruinous practices my patients can Lo restored to robust,
vigorous health,
Tne afflicted are canticined against the use of Patont Medi
cines, for there are so many ingenious snares in the columns
of the public prints to catch and rob the unwary sufferers
that millions have their constitutions ruined by the vile
compounds of quack doctors, or the equally poisonous nos
trums vended as "Patent filediciues." I have carefully ana
lysed many of these called Patent Medicines and find that
nearly all of them contain Corrosive Sublimate, which is
one of the strongest preparations of mercury arida deadly
poison, which instead of curing the disease disables the sys
tem for life.
