stances as we received them were these:. On Monday
evening. a party composed of some SeVun or eight of

Caledonian Festival, and while walking along St.
Clair s'treet, amused themseivo3 by singing some of
the songs of the favorite poet Burns, whose birNley
they had been celeliating. One gentleman got a
littio noisy, and was told by James Gornaly, a Watch
man, to keep quiet. As he entered the St. Clair
street bridge ho remarked that an two watchmen
cenld take hint, whereupon Gormly soared upon him,
and was about to t:r-aa him, when the watchman at
the bridge interfered, and proceeded to infliet several
blows upon the body of Gortnly. Capt. R. C. Gray,
of the steamer Denamyk, came to the rescue, and re
lieved Gormly, when Eaveral other of the night Police
coming up, the whole, party were arrested and taken
to the Mayor's office. They wore placed in the watch
house, where they were forced to remain until morn
ing, when they were discharged. Capt. Gray, who
went to the office with the party for the purpose of
bailing out the, re,v;iniier, was don incarcerated.
