They then retired to consider the bills presented by the Prosecuting Attorney. Af terwards the Court adjourned until 9 o'clock this morning. From the following jail colander, made out by John H. Phillips, jailor, it will be seen there is promise of a busy time, although there are no cases of such pub lic interest as occupied tho attention of the Court at the April term : Larceny twenty-three; Rape three: Bigamy one; Robbery four; Burglary six; Surety of the Peace seven; Assault and Battery twelve; Keeping Bawdy Houses five ; Perjury two ; Mali cious Mischief two; Desertion one; Murder one; Fornication and Bastardy two; Horse Stealing one; Burglary and Larceny two ; and passing Counterfeit Money one, making a total of all offences of seventy five. In addition to the above list, the number out on bail is sufficiently large to occupy the attention of their honors and the gentlemen of the jury, until the first and possibly until the middle of November. Pose Raising.—A large and respectable number of the Democratic citizens of Indiana township volun tarily met, without any previous call being made, at the house of Alexander Turner, on Saturday, Octo ber 4th, where an emblem of the glorious democrat ic principles was displayed, by raising a beautiful hickory pole, one hundred feet in length. The meet ing was then or,saoiseri by electing Francis Quinotte . Esq., Prasident: Messrs. John Boyle and Alexander Campbell, Viee Preen, lents, and James Rol.;nson and Henry Fry, Secretiiri:), Capt. Its size is about 3 feet loug by feet wide : its com pass, 4 octaves from C. to C. It is perfect in all its parts, the same as any full sized instrillkicnt. only on a very small scale. The mate of it was made for Mr. C. C. Perkins„„s distinguished musician of Boston, to use while composing. It is certainly one of the ni cest little things we have ever seen. and reflects great credit on its manufacturers, Messrs. Chickering A Sons, Boston. Call and see it. Liquor Selling on Sandely.—Fitix Boyle, the keep.. er of a tavern in the Fifth Ward, had two informa tions' made against him yesterday, fur selling liquor on the Sabbath contrary to the statute. One RP. 1-y Robert Herron, who testified that he had drunk liquor on Sunday, at Boyle's, frequently. The other was by Mrs. Martha Thompson, who stated that she had frequently warned the tavern keeper not to sell her husband firewater, but that be continued to do so, and last month had charged against him no less than forty-two pints of whirky. Boyle was held to bail by Alderman Parkinson in $3OO to answer. At a meeting of the Cvuoinittee of Arrangernonts for the Greensburg meeting, held at Wilkins Dail on Saturday evening. :Belem Slack and Rowley report ed that they had made arrangements with the Penn sylvania Railroad company to start an exmarsicm train on Tuesday miming, October 7th, at 9 o'clock, for Greensburg, and to return on the evening of the same dzy; thus affording to all the friends of Bu chanan and Breckinridge in Allegheny coutty an oppitrtsmity to attend the meeting hi old Westmore land the " Star of the WosL" immediacies Al.oat.—The l'oatoffice building in Manchester was discovered on fire on Sunday morn ing about 6 o'clock, and before it could be checked considerable damage was done to We interior and roof also destroying the quarterly account of mails sent and received, for the quarter ending September, also, the way bills and accounts up to Saturday night. Burns. The assault was committed at Shoen bargees Rolling Mill on Friday last, and it was thought Burns might die, but yesterday his physi cian pronounced him out of danger. Attempt to Break Jail.—Two attempts to break jail were made within the last week, both of which, of course, proved aboritive. It must be a matter for congratulation to Mr. Phillips that hh will in short time, most likely be relieved of the care of those trouble•mme fellows, who will probably get into even more secure quarters than those in the rear of the Court House. P;lppo.rd Infaritiride.—Tho body of an infant war found in dm Canal Basin oppositelthe United States Hotel, yesterday morning.
