Je24 ROUT. C. WALKER., Secretary. Allegheus Buchanan Cub.—The meeting on Thursday- night of Democrats in Excel sior Hall was one of the largest yet held in that place. Mr. Wtn. Blakely, the President, took the Chair at 74 o'clock, when the meeting was opened by the Wee Club singing some beautiful songs com posed by our townsman, Stephen C. Foster, Esq. The President then stated that Col. Samuel W. Black would whim's the meeting, and on the appearance of the gallant Colonel be was greeted with the loud est shouts of weleeine on this his first address to the I)olmA:racy of Allegheny city during the presen campaign. The Colonel's speech was one of the best we have ever heard from that distinguished orator. He went into a calm statement of facts, showing the history of the Black Republican party and its dis union tendencies from the year 1803 when Josiah Quincy (at present an ardent supporter of Fremont. though nearly 00 years old) declared the Union dis solved bceause of the purchase of Louisiana, a slave territory, by 31r. Jefferson. Next ho showed how the same party opposed the admission of Louisiana as a State. and even after she was admitted how the Massachurett.< Legislature asked that she should be exp./ied frvln the Union. Ho also exposed the dis union pr - ,.'Ungs of tho llartford Convention, en aaeoant of the rultnission of Louisiana, also tho reso lution, of that Convention declaring that no one for eign horn should hold office under our gorernment. Ile then took up a number of other facts in the same eonneetimi. and in the burning words of truth and el opionee ls4i bark, the dangerous tendencies of the lately roil od disunion party. The Colonel occupied no hour and n half and was li.toned to with the most profound and respectful attention by the immense crowd. Such 'Fremont men as were present behaved in the most quiet and proper manner. At the last meeting of the B. and B. Club, a lemon had been taught the Fremonters who had been in the habit of disturbing all the former meetings of the Democracy in this nail, which we were glad to see they profited by. The committee of vigilance showed them in a very striking manner. on that occasion, that though they were denied the ossisonce of the police of the city, they were determined that blackguards and ruffians should not he permitted to disturb the Democracy any longer, in their peaceable ussoinblages in their non hall. Atter the conclusion of Col. Black's speech, the Glee clott again sang. The meeting then passed a reso lution of than ki to Col. Black and quietly dispersed. W e heard tom gentlemen from Armstrong county de- elate that they came la that meeting Fremont men, hut that they had Ilelf resolved to vole for James Purhenau. ;to it is. Only let the people have the ram , . and Rhc numliers of the Demecrany swell nt n,ery meeting.
