The Louisville Journal, of Thursday, said Mr. Alexander, of Woodford, had purchased the cele brated race horse Lexington. lie met Mr. Ten broeck in England, and the purchase was mad' there. The price paid was $15,000. This, we believe, is the highest price that was ever paid for any horse in the United Sfates. At Worcester, on the 29th of August, Mr. N. W. Towne, of Worcester, was married to Miss Sarah G. Morrill, of Manchester, N. H , by Res. T. W. Lligginson. As part of the services a Protest" was read against the whole law of inequality between the sexes, claiming that the wife should be mistress of her own person and property, and have an equal share in the control of her children. Erhard Beck, of the firm of Beck & Harten stein, and Daniel Chatterton and John Dotter were arrested in Philadelphia, on Thursday, on a charge of having conspired to cheat and de fraud the creditors of the above named firm out of goods valued at eighteen or twenty thousand dollars. In the cellar of Dotter $5,000 worth of property was found, besides a large amount in various other places. Beck & Harteustein are cabinet makers. The cause of one of the walls of the Broad way Theatre falling was being undermined by Messrs. Bowen ti McNamee, silk-men, who are putting up a building to rival Stewart's famous dry goods palace. They offered to rave the build ing by running needles through the walls, but Mr. Marshall, the lessee, would not permit it un less he was paid $5,000, the cost of maintaining his company, &c., while the Theatre was useless ---which would be about three weeks.
