August 7th—Senate.—Mr. Stewart replied to Mr. Seward's speech, which he termed ex traordinary. Seward was evidently responsible for the present troubles in Kansas, and his present ar gument seemed as if intended to encourage the House in factious opposition to the Senate and Pres ident Mr. Foote desired some convenient opportunity to address the Senate on Kansas matters; but as it was now late, he was reluctant to detain that body to-night, but would like to have that opportunity on Saturday. Mr. Thompson, of Ky., also wished to make a po litical speech on the same day,•if ho had time after the others finished. . . Messrs. Durkee, Foote, Foster, Harlan, Seward, Trumbull, Wade, Wilson and Weller, gave notice that they would call up the Pacific railroad bill on to-morrow. I=ilß Wasutirorus, July a— Senute —The Senate begins to work up, and passed the bill from the House grant ing one and a half millions acres of land to the State of Mississippi for railroad purposes. House.—Mr. Washburn, of Maine, reported a re solution authorizing the payment to Mr. Reeder of per diem mileage, from the time his claims to a seat as delegate from Kansas was decided. The resolution was adopted by 23 majority. North Carolina Election RALEIGH, N. C. August o.—The vote at Raleigh for Governor is as follows: Gilmer, K.
