Trott's Oil lalobes for steam Unglues
FORT PITT 'fax Woms.s,
Pittsburgh, Aril 14th, 1856.
MR. M. F. Evros—Sir: Mr. George Trott's "Patent Oil
Globes" have been in use on the Engiutsi in oar Works for
three or four years pa.st, arid have performed so satisfactory,
that we now apply them to all the Engines we make. For
two years past we have abandoned the use of any other kind
of Oil Globes. Respectfully, yours,
M. P. Earns, Eau.
Door Sir,—having used G. Trott's "Patent Oil Globe" m
almost all the steam engines furnished the last year, and in
nemuch as they appear to have given entire eatiefa•tioo
our customers, we have no hesitation in recommending them
as a good article, and much preferable on account of their
simplicity of construction, to the old fashioned Oil Globes, or
any other of which we have aoy knowledge.
Very reerwtfully yew.,

This certifies that we have had in use the patent OROlobes

consider them very much superior to any thing of the kind
we have ever used. ALFRED THOMAS,

Patent Plutelting Plane.
This invention is intended fur use where it is desired to im
part a fine, smooth, and glossy surface to the wool; but it is
applicable. with advantage, to all kind of carpenter's planes.
The novelty mueiste in placing the cutting chisel, or bit, iu
front of the wedge, instead of behind, as In common planes:
also in applying a metallic mouth-piece to the Mon of the
plane, in front of the chisel, which mouth piece serves WI the
rest fur the chisel, and confines the throat of the plane.
But the mouth piece Is so close to the edge of the bit as to
prevent the plane from ripping or splintering the w,xx.l iu
the least degree. Indeed, we have seen the implement up
-01.1 to the planing of wood against the grain, and trays
versely to the grain, leaving the wood perfectly smooth. So
perfect to the operation of this instrument, that It may be ap
plied to the planing of veneers—with entire success—.a
thing which cannot safely be done by the common plane.
The ta,ulliu- arrangement of the inoutn idel-O, hit, and
wedge, affords a complete and firm bearing for the bit
throughout its whole length, and dispenses., under all ca.-
cum stances, with the rise of a cap or double bit.
This is a very simple and effective improvement, destined.
we have uu doubt, to tlud Its way into every carpenter's sh.,p
In the land. No tool chest is complete without it. The in
ventor is Win. C. Hopper, of Plttsburuh, Pa, and his patent
bears date January Id, laa.

hand. The, Cure arrived late last year and the difficulty in
getting any one to try it was greatly Increased from the
fiat that a remedy had been introduced which-was growing
in favor with the public, as being better thantiaingtjulidue
—not knowing T presume that the remedy they need to
escape taking Quinine, contained the drug Itself! •6f ' '
This remedy, known as Smith's Tonic, would invariably
break an ague, bat it did not cure it, as it would often re
turn with renewed vigor. This One circumstance I _deemed
in your favor, if I could institute a test comparison between
It and year Care. The following is the result:
Three persons took your Cure, all of which were eases of
Quotidian Intermittent Fever, of many weeks standing.
They had tried Quinine, and other remedie occaalontilly •
missing a chill, but it was (as in all, such cam* slowlywear,
ing them out, and laying the foundation of other and seye
rer maladies. I did succeed in t ffecting a radical' care of
all three of these cases with your remedy, and they have
not had a chill since. In all three of these cases the Smith's
Tonic had been used, and would, as before gated, break the
chill, but after a period or two had elapsed It would return.
I think there will be no difficulty now in giving to your
Cure the vantage ground of any other remedy now in use
here, Sic., Ac. WILLIAM BUCKNER, 31. D.
RHODES' FEVER and AGUE CURE, or ANTIDOTE TO
MALARIA, the only harmless remedy in existence, is
itially certain as a PREVENTIVE, as a CURE. Take it
whin you feel the chills coming on, andyou will never have
a single one.
