GREATEST IMPROVEMENT YET! F =
LTRNITUREt
•
NE W SCA], E-H. KLEBER & BRO.,
bay.• jmt received a small hit of
NUNNS & CLARKS' PIANOS, trir.;ii
provided with their NEW SCALE. This is
their latest, and undoubtedly the MOST rat-
PORT N'r improvement ae yet made to the Piano Forte. The
PirWER of the instrument is almost DOUBLED thereby;
and in point of volume, evenness and brilliancy of tone, they
surpass anything as yet produced in the shape of a Piano.
They patrician all the advantages of the Grand Pianos, with
out any of its disadvantages. We now challenge comparison
with the instruments of any other maker in this country,
confident that every unbiassed judge of the article will at
once admit their superiority. The public hi respectfully in
vited to call and examine these superb Instruments.

PITTSBURGH POST.
h'EDNESDAY
Col reepoiolonco of the Pittsburgh Mortrink Polt
INT.TINI(ME, July 19, 1856.
Friend Gillnwre :
Our friends abroad need have no fear. of
Maryland. I have hitherto ventured no asser
tions prophetically of this State, but 1 nog feel
no hesitation in the expression of my opinion.
Maryland will go for Buchanan.
You have, I suppose, been somewhat bewil
dered by the movement of our late •• Know Noth
ing," dia., old line Whig Conventions. Well you
need not be. When the Devil proposed to .the
Saviour on the Mount to give h m all he saw before
him, he was entitled to as much respeettithis
Convention was in offering the Whig vote Of this
State to Fillmore. They blow a penny' Whistle.
The "Herald" of New York is a sainted organ
compared to that Convention.
Now as to the facts. There was not three
counties in the State fully and legitimately repre
sented, and in a majority of the counties there
were not as many participating in the election of
the delegates as there were delegates sent. Then,
again, there were not ten men in that Conven
tion who had not voted heretofore the Know
Nothing ticket, and were its violent advocates.
Most of them were of the Order. From its first
steps to this moment it has been a laughing
stock, a subject for ridicule and jeers.. They were
that portion of the original Whig party in this
State who, as a minority, had been for fifteen
years fighting a factional warfare against their
own party, up to the year '52, when the Whig
party broke up under Gen. Scott. The real
Hower of the Whig party of this State, the men
who furnished the brAns and means, and kept
the entire control of it to that date when the
Democracy overcame them in '52, were not in nor
of that Cenvention. I oder Oen. Scott they le ,
leased their hold, tad though these gallant Fill
more Whigs of '31.: tried hard to run the State up
for Scott, they broke down as you know. By n
base fusion with the Klow No:aings last year
they succeeded in a State election. The old line
Whigs of the State are against them All their
able men and their conservative masses tire now
dead against them, and before the lot of Sep
tember you will see this imposingly demonstrated
by formal action.
Now the case is strictly thus: In the lower
counties we will increase heavily, very nearly
sweep the entire vote. In the city of Baltimore
we will increase enough to carry it, and in the
aggregate vote of the northern counties have ac
cessions enough to give 114 the State by from three
to six thousand majority and perhaps far more
than that. This late fraud has aroused the old
line Whigs and drove a bombshell into the Know
Nothing order by which the Democrats, once led
estrus, are deserting in crowds. A grosser fraud
was never perpetrated, and the consequences will
he such as to entitle them to our thanks. It was
an attempt to obtain pods under false pretences,
and a failure.
lours, truly
