SIXTH ANNUAL EXHIBITION PENNSYLVANIA STATE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY, WILL RE lIELD AT PITTSBURGH On SEPTEMBER 30th, and on OCTOBER lot, 3d and 3d, 1858. leV HOST. C. WALISIM, Secretary Suicide of Oorrigms.—A rumor.was current in the city yesterday evening, that Hugh Carsigs*pommi ted salads by taking poison, on Saturday ttight.last. Full particulars to-morrow. Board of Lieenaera.—On Saturday last, at 10 o'clock A. M., the case of Mrs. Hannah, to whom a license had been granted a week previous, to keep tavern at Stewartstovrn, was called up; a remon strance against her, supported by evidence, alleging that she was not a proper person to keep a public house, having, in the mean time, before the license papers left the Board, been presented. Thos. M. Marshall, Bag., acted as counsel for the woman, and F. H. Collier, Esq., represented the remonstrants. This case excited considerable interest and occupied the whole day. A groat many witpeases, whose tes timony we do not consider of sufficient importance to publish, were examined; some of whom swore that gm H. was not a proper person to keep a house of entertainment—that she allowed card playing, sold liqtior to tirankards and minors, and that a tavern at that point' was not necessary. On the side of the fair petitioner-and she is a very genteel looking la dy, it was testiftekthat she was wall qualified for the business, kept an-orderly house, and that a tavern there was very necessary. Indeed the swearing on both Ades was well done, but the Board after hear ing it all, together with an explanation from the At. torneys, reserved their decision for some future oc;a- The Exhibiti. , ” of the Niulh Ward Faille. School Lyceum, which commenced on Wednesday of last week, closed on Friday evening at a very late hour, as theprogramme was rather lengthy. During the evenings of this exhibition many excellent exercises were produced in the way of declamations, essays, tableaux, dialogues, itc., which reflected great credit on the teachers and scholars connected with these schools. Thew hole interspersed with music, instru• mental and vocal, made up a tine literary trcat . When the curtain was dropped, after the last dia logue, one of the scholars stepped forward and pre sented the Principal of the Schools, W. Whitton Radials, with a splendid silver-mounted cane. Mr. It. received the gift, and in return made a brief address to his pupils, and then to the audience, as they were dismissed. Mr. R. stated the compliment was en tirely unexpected, yet he would endeavor to merit it. Correction.—ln an item erroneously headed " Ar rested for Counterfeiting," in Saturday's issue, it was stated that a Mr. John White had been arrested on a charge of passing a spurious $5 bill on the Me chanics' Bank of the City and County of Philadel phia. The person making the information is named Joseph Faulter, who alleges that he was purchasing some goods from White, and that he gave the nom in ranking change; that when he asc ertained it was not a genuine note, he retuined it to White for re demption. Mr. White denies positively that he gave .oat the note. Buda:man and Breefritiridge Club in Birmingham. —A meeting of the Buchanan and Breckinridge *Club of Birmingham, was held on Friday night. The meeting was well attended and the utmost harmony and interest prevailed. An address was delivered by J.
