AFF trftg: - WED filAsl}4,l' OfiNl,llG Premont and • Thisuffeir came off last evening in Allegheny. The crerd in attendance was not largo, notwithstanding the music, cannon and liberal advertising in all the ; Warne* including the Morning Pc". Wa honestly `bailers that fifteen hundred e' ceeded the et, tire nuns bar present. Of these one half were boys from five • td ifighteen years of age, and of the adults, at least one-fifth Were Buchanan men who were on hand to bear the big guns (Heaven save the mark!) of the opposition, as per announcement in an advertisement in our paper. The speakers were Thos. H. Ford, of Ohio; Senator Wilson, of Mass.; Wm. F. Johnston, John Williamson, Esq., of Huntingdon, (the Hiad:Williamson of the Journal.) Resolutions rati fying the nomination of Fremont and Johnston were unanimously passed. • The first speaker of the occasion was Thomas H. Ford, Lieut. Governor of Ohio. This is the "barrel of sweat" man, and from the labor of his abolition engines one would have thought he meant to exhaust the "barrel." on this occasion. It is no injustice to say of Ford thathe is a vulgar, windy Know Nothing, literally and in a political sense, and by word and manner much disappointed those who expected and wished to hear something respectable from a Lieuten ant Governor of a powerful and intelligent State like Ohio. Ford belched for nearly two hours, taking the smallest scraps of sensation for applause, and using them as encouragement to further inflict the Crowd who had gone there to hear men of sense. Ile talked over the usual abolition slang, denounced Manilas and foreigners in the usual dark lantern terms. Just at this point an honest Irishman's voice was heard asking, "what have you to say about fiatayette", but Ford pretended he did'ot hear, and blond red and stammered on. Much of his time was taken up by complaints about the place on which he bad to stand, (the platform had given way, and come dow'n with a crash shortly after ho began to Fpeak,) asking for water, Which he swallowed like a big funnel in quan_ titles well calculated to supply the "barrel" and calling for tobacco, which when given him, he bborishiy condemned because it was not " cut and dry," Ford burly, sweaty, dirty looking aeoutnula tip of stuff, and evidently a man of great vanity, egotism, and ignorance. His speech had neither be • ginning, point, nor end, and laCked the latter par titularly. He talked about the waterfalls and "woodbines" of the great West, which Fremont had opened up to the world. We suppose the "woodbines" gust mean the woolly horse, or if not, we must refer our readers to Ford for the definition. Webster didn't know the meaning of "woodbines" nor Ford either, we presume, or he would have glinted the Lieut. Gov. Future lex ic ogra phers plea,e insert. Ford says he will come hack to Fennsylva nia some time when he feels less embarrassed, end wM finish his remarks. Horribile dirt. The neat speaker was Senator Wilson, of " Van ketehusettr."—(Ford.) The great Senator was in favor of a union of parties, that is of K. N:9 and Biwa Republicans. His remarks were too weak to last •long, and after disappointing everybody that heard him, he relieved his friends by quitting. Fro the reputation which Mr. W il.lOll bar some how acquired, we expeated to hear .onierhia9, but werli - rather sorry to notice the hobble reputation buret in, Pittsburgh. If abolition New Kngland wishes to preserve the memory of her truly great men,and concert the people of Wertern Pennsylva nia, she hal better send somebody that can talk English here. We think Wilson null not be re quired in smoke4lom soon again. Hon. Wm. F. Johnson was next greeted with three cheers, and spoke with his usual clearness. in terest and force. His opinions are already veil known to our readers, and his speech consisted in s lucid statement of them. We need not further ,n, 084 they are those of an extremist, and as nnti•dem °crate as possible. Johnny Williamron, Esq.. of IluntinFlon ramous. wound up the ball with a most heterng rouse bon. e of conglomerated nonsense, which we. St Kiel f.r cachinations, nod put ererybAy in a good hu mor, not excepting the speaker himself. We never have had any fear, -I . non tion; but if for a moment we had been fearful. the events of last night would have forever dispelled them. Fremont & Drayton Ratification Meeting. The Fremont and Dayton demonstration at Ilia American lintel yard, last evening, was, consider ing the warm weather, rather respectable. About o'clock, tien.
