SATURDAY MORNING
That Abdurtioa.—The recent abduction case in
Allegheny city has been a source of great profit to
the local columns of, at least, two of the city dailies.
The " industriou•" and perßearritly gentlemen who
preside over these columns, have made a great deal
of capital out of it, , in their own imagination onl y .
and are desirous that the public will appreciate their
efforts, for which read the concluding paragraphs of
their respective items on the subject, in yesterday's
papers. The astute conceives that the arti
cle in the Pet, which he refers to, was written in a
spirit of malice, and treats it with contempt. We
have the authority of unbiased men, who are better
professors of Christianity than the local himself, that
they were of opinion that all the articles on the sub.
jest, in his column, were full of malicious spirit, an , l
no other construction can be placed upon their au
thor's feelings than those of malice.
The police of Allegheny made a thorough search
of all the Catholic institutions in the neighborhood,
but could find no traces of the missing child. The
ladies who preside over the different institutions,
threw open the doors to the officers, and appeared
anxious to have the impression eradicated from the
public mind that the child had been alelueted lac
them. Mr. Chambers expressed himsell satisfied
that the Sisters had nothing to do with the abduc
tion of the child. and has taken ilia departure, with
Ilia family Westward.
In relation to the drunkenness of Mrs. chambers,
we have it front a gentleman who Caw her ..n the da‘
the child was abducted, that she was so 11111011 intoxi
eated that she could not rise from the ground in the
rear of the Emmett Hotel. When he asked her from
whence she came, she replied in language so blas
phemous that several around her went away isilholit

band, when he went to the newspaper "111-e• to
