TONICS WON'T DO I—They never did do
More then give temporary relief and they never will.
It is because they don't touch the cause of the disease. The
OFIIBO of ell igue and bilious disease* is the atmospheric
poison called Miasma or Malaria. Neutralise this poison by
its natural antidote, and all disease catsed by it disappears
at OWNS. Fever and Ague Cure 1,1 this Antidete to
Malaria, and moreover it is a perfectly harmless medicine,
The certificate of the celebrated chemist, T. R. Chilton. of
New York, to this effect, is attached to every bottle; there.
fore iris does no gvaal it can do uo harm.
This is more than can be said of Quinine, Arsenic, or any
took in existence, as their use is ruinous to the COOStitUtioll
and brings on Dumb Ague, which never allows a person to
feel perfectly well for a single moment. In illustration of
these truths I annex soave extra-la from a letter just received
from a Physician.

JAS. A. RHODES, Esq.—Dear Sir: Yours of `24 Inst. is at
hand. The Cure arrived Into last )ear and the difficulty in
getting any one to try it was greatly Increased from the
tact that a remedy had been Introduced which was growing
i n favor with the public, as being better than using quinine
—not knowing t presume that the remedy they used to
enema , taking, Quinine, contamel the drug itself!
This remedy, known as Smith's Tunic, would invariaby
break an ague, but It did not cure it, m It would often re
turn with renewed vigor. This one circumstance I deemed
in your fn.or, if I could institute a test comparison between
jt and your Care. Thefollowing in the result
Three persons took your Cure, all of which were cameo of
Quotidian Intermittent Fever of many weeks standing.
They had tried Quinine, and Other , remedies, occasionally
missing a chill. but It was tag In all such cases) 'lowly wear
ing them out, and laying the foundation of other and sere
rue maladies. I did succeed in a !feeling a radical cure of
all three of these cases with your remedy, and they have
Not had a chill since. In all three of these caws the Smith's
Toni: had been used. and would, as before stated, break the
.chilh hut after a period or twohad elapsed it would return.
I think there win no difficulty now In giving to your
Cure the vantage ground of any other remedy now In use

Abfluetif.n.—A little girl, aged twelve years, named
Mary Ann Chambers, was spirited away from her
parents at the Federal street depot, Allegheny, on
Monday evening. It appears that her father, John
Chambers, was, with his family, on the way to lowa,
where be intends to settle, While standing with her
mother at the depot, two women with black veils ap
proached her, and demanded her of the mother, who
refused to part with the child. ?oft,. Chambers went
into a store near by to make some purebases, and
during her absence the little girt wa.s taken away .
The Mayor's police yesterday arrested a man named
John Boyle, charged with being coucorned in the
abduction, but no evidence being found to susm,i,
the charge, he was released. The father odors are
ward of $lllO fur the recovery of his child.
A Pirtstaryh,r is Trouble.--We learned yesterday
morning that intelligence hid reached this ray 0
the arrest at Lecompton, Kansas, of Benjamin Han
cock, (formerly the keeper of a livery stable on Fifth
street,) who stands charged with murder. Humor
has it that a man sold his claim in the vicinity of
aancock'a residence for $2OO, and that he stopped
at Hancock's house. The man was murdered, and
his money stolen, and from some disclosures mad"
by his daughter, suspicion attached to Hancock. Mr
Hancock, although an intemperate man, had the rep
citation here of being an inoffensive man.
