RIVER NEWS.
Tae Rtem.—There Were 4 feet I inch Mueller In the

aix Inches tatitind by the mine of Saturday and /Saturday
night. The weather cOnthatirO cloudy and enttry. All the
boale that were aground on Brunet Ripple have been
gotten off and gone on their way rejoicing.
Tar ere., mer " AdeHa" leaves this morning, for WheelMg,
at 10 o'clock, is charge of Capt. Geo. Doyle.
THE " b'ereet City" arrived en Saturday, only 36 h o ur!.

Tnt steamers '• W. IL Delany," Captain Thoe. Lyon. and
Shnuauffn," Capt. S. B. French, left St. Lonia far Pitts
burgh, en Wednesday lant, and the "Alma" was to l onvn on
Thursday.
Tux steamer " Crpt. Roberta, left for L,nlsville ;
•• Grand Turk," Capt. Gallatin, for Keokuk, and -' Lnria
May," for eltainnati--all well freighted for the awns o f the
water, and a goodly untulaw of passengers.
'MONDAY PAOLO' —Thu light and aubstantial atetuuer
Fairy Queen" is off for Cincinnati toelay in charge of Capt.
Ky.e, a gentleman of experience lu boating, beaido the " F.
Q." has superior acconinetdatkma, eutud to any boat of her
chute that flouts on the Oh o.
Fun Os u.irous AND KANAWIRA.—The new and lightitraught
propelle . r " Virginia Rollo" leaves to-day fur the above
points. The accommodations are unsurpassed by any other
boat of her class. She was built under the special superiu
tendon., of Captain Saints, expressly fora packet in the
Kenna ha and Cincinnati trade, and great credit in due to
her projectore for bringing out so light a boat.
The New Orleans Della of the Mth ult., says:
The weather contioneel clear and very Warm. Business
gettlng very dull no the levee. Up freighta are very scarce,
nod rates ruinously low.
Tux Si. Louis Dmocrut, of the sth inst., says •
The river here, and all the upper river.', continue falling,
and that, very rapidly too. The Il linois .kept up well for a
long time, but it has at loot followed the example, so to
epealc, of the other e, end is retreating rapidly. in the idle
monri there in at least one boat aground, and others, proba
bly, on the lower rapid.. At last accounts from the Onm
bertari, there wa. but three feet and a half on the Shads,
and failing. Other tributaries of the Ohio, arid that stream
itself. are punning a downward course, and boats are ex.
pected to ground everywhere but in the lower Misaissip . b.
Tac Nashville /11frinf of the 4th. says:
The Cumberland at this point was still receding slowly at
thin point yesterday. There are about thirty Incbesot water
on Hannah Shoals.
The an ivals at our wharf yesterday, were the Nita from
below. and. the A. L Davis from points above.
The Cuba and A. L. Danis left for below, and were the
only departure..
The It. L. Cobb was announced at the Shoals, the Seventy-
Six and Mantel G. Taylor at Clarksville, and the Nashville at
Paducah.
The weather was excensively hot..
The Louisville Conekr, of the 6th, says:
The river is unchanged, at this point, with 3 feet 10 Inches
water in the canal, by tlesi mart. On the fella there are but
110 inches water—the lowest Stages wo have ever known . at
this season of the year.
()wing to the exceeding low stage of water In the river,
and the difficulties of navigation, the rates of freights to
New Orleans have been materially advanced. Pound freights
yesterday were taken at 40 cents, pork per barrel 76 cents
to th morning and $1 to the evening. Tubacisa Vi hogshead
wee offered at $O, but the price last evening was establitthed
at $6 1. hogshead, and othi r articles in proportion.
