.CanApbcll ..111,10 cl,—Last night, owing to
thethetircumstanre that lifit, inic Hall hat previnualy
hee . inangaged for the concert i,l he t hin-1. - al Solely,
die Campbells performed in Birmingham; but this
evening they will return and favor our citizen? with
ituir a mu,idg performances until Saturday next. It
is not often we take so much pleasure in commend
a troupe of performers to our readers, at we do
in the case of the Minstrels ; for a better band, and
one more worthy the patronage of amusement seek
ers, never visited the city. Each member is a host
in himself, and cannot be exeelled. Without a par
ticle of vulgarity, their performances sparkle with
wit, humor and fun. Unlike many others in the
same profession, they do not need to descend to ob
scene jests, or stale witticisms, to catch the applause
of their audience, and the applause from those in
attendance is spontaneous and long continued.
Where every man is almost equally good in his pe
culiar line, it probably would be invidious to make
any distinctions, but we cannot refrain from particu
laxly noticing Matt Peel, who is the life and soul of
the company. As a delineator of the peculiarities of
the negro race, he is acknowledged to be the best
traveling, and is inimitable with his slde•splitting
anecdotes, dances and actions. A visitor can get the
worth of his money from Peel alone, without taking
into amount the other members of the troupe.
Their concerts have been most liberally patron.
iced, and no doubt will be so leng, as they continue
to play. We advise all to go and see them.
