Yesterday His Honor, Mayor Bingham, had before him a man named John M'Corroll, who was arrested for running the streets without a license, in opposi tion to an ordinance. liPearroll, it appears, has n license from the Allegheny city authorities, for which he pays $2 per annum, but objects to paying $2,&0 for one in Pittsburgh, although his business relit, hitu as much to this as to the other side of the river. His Honor decided that he must fork over the quarter eagle, when his counsel took out a writ of certiorari to have the case finally adjudicated before the Su preme Court. A milk-man, of the name of Michael Tobias, dri ving a fine span, (milk-men'always have good horses) also objected to paying into the city Treasury his quota, on the plea, forsooth, that he was cowing to market. This milk and water argument will scarcely avail in a court of law and equity, although for the sake of his customers, it may be policy not to exact the flue. Judge Schuyler writes under date of the 20th that himself and Con way are set at liberty; O. W. Brown is still a prisoner of the mob at Lecotupton; Goy. Robinson is in a similar situation at Westport; Shannon refuses any interference with the posse; Schuyler called upon (Hirer to use his influence with Shannon.
