ailllOht all the steam engines furnished the last year, and in.
iismnch as they appear td have given entire satisfaction to
r customers, we have no leidtation in recommending then
an a good article, and much preferable on account of their
simplicity of construction, to the old fashioned Oil Globe., or
any other of which we have any knowledge.
This certifiea that the tiil Cup patented by Mr. Trott, Las
been in use on our mad for two years past. We ELud it to be
an economical and durable Oil Cup, and can recommend it
as such. OEO. W. GRIER.

Tu P. Kama, Rau:
This certifies that we have had in use the patent Oil Olive
or Cape, sold by Moses Y. Eaton, Esq., of Pittsburgh, and
consider them very much superiur to any thing of the kind
we have ever need. ALFRED THOMAS,

Patent Finishing Plane.
Thin is intended for use where It le desired to Im
part it fine, smooth. and glossy surface to the wood; led it a
applfeible, with advantage, to all kind of Larpeuter's Mama.
The"vett, consists in placing the cutting chisel. ur bit, in
fron of the wedge, instead of behind, as in common planes;
also in applying a metallic mouth-piece to the face of the
plan., In front of the chisel, which mouth piece SerVes as the
rest for the chisel, and coati°ee the throat of the plane.
But the mouth pitre Is so chose to the edge of the bit as to
prevent the plane from ripping or splintering the wood iu
the least degree. Indeed, we have 81,4413 the implement ap
plied to the planing of wart against the grain, and traps
Tersely to the grain, leaving the WOOLI perfectly smooth. So
perfect Is the operation of this instrument, that it may io. ap
plied to the planing of vouanis---with entire success—a
thing which cannot safely be done by the common plane.
The peculiar arrangement of the moutn piece, bit, and
wedge, affords a complete and firm bearing for the lit
throughunt its whole length, and dispenses, under all cir
cumstances, with the use of a cap or double I
This to a very simple and effective improvem nt, destined,
roe have no doubt. to 4nd its way into every carpenter's chop
to the land. No tool thest in complete without It The
lu
ventor is Wet. C. Hopper, of Pitteburuh t Pa., and Ms {went
