greater than the number of licenses granted in Alle
gheny county in ISA. It is probable, however, that
the number of drinking houses then in existence was
not entailer, as many were then selling which were
not licensed so to do. In Philadelphia the number
of drinking houses has been reduced from over three
thousand t.. one thousand.
