Commonwealth vs. Christian fichaad and Wtn.
Hauptman. The defendants were charged with ob
taining $4OO on a false pretence. The Jury went out
on Thursday. and came into Court yesterday with a
verdict of guilty.
S. C. Silly, plead guilty to petit larceny, and was
sentenced to one month in jail.
Mary Kelly vs. A. and B. The prosecutrix did not
appear, and the defendant was found not guilty, the
prosecutrix to pay the costs.

$2O, was found not guilty, and,tlincharge d.
Commonwealth vs. Jonas thorns. Indictme
of
ent
incestuous fornication and bastardy. This is on
those revolting cases that ocoaerionally—and only
occasionally--sappear in the Criminal Court, as if to
show to what, deep degradation our nature can
Louisa
sink.
The defendant is charged by his daughter,
Grows, with incestuous intercourse, resulting in the
birtliof a female child, in the month of February,
1856. Her father It a respectable go o kig man, of
about forty-five years of age, and whose out
ward appearance would hardly indicate him to be
guilty of so unnatural a crime. The daughter was
atineteen ini, dast February, and not prepossessing in
her personal appearance. There were four or five
witnesses for the defence, and only the prosecutrix.
herself for the Commonwealth. After retiring for ii
short time, the father returned with a verdict of;
guilty. He was remanded for &entente.
Sodo.re of Was. A. Oreatrukr.—Young Greatrake,
who was found guilty by a jury of the seduction of
Mary S. Murray, was brought into Court and sen
tenced yesterday. Col. l3lack had made a motion for
a new trial on account of alleged error iu the Judge's
charge, but his Honor overruled the point in an
opinion which would occupy about a half column of
our paper. He then asked the prisoner to stead up.
and proceeded to sentence him to a fine of fij cents ,
pay the costs of the prosecution, and two years in
the Western Penitentiary. When Judge in
the
asked him if be had any thing to say why sentence
should not be pronounced, Greatrake made a few re
marks, declaring his innocence of the crime charged
in the indictment, and asservating that his Honor
himself was not more guiltless. The unfortunate
young man was then remanded to jail. Thus ends
the last scene of all in this strange, eventful history,
which hits perhaps occupied more of the public atten
tion than any other case dolt has been before our
Courts fur a number of years.
