Terrible Tornado at Alliance, 0.
100 BUILDINC,S UNROOFED ANN
BU )11' N DOWN
SEVERAL LIVES LOST !
A fearful hurricane visited Alliance on Satur
day evening about Si I'. M., which, in its course,
carried destruction to a large number or trees,
houses, barns and other property. It came from the
North West, struck the 0. end Railroad a
little beyond Alliance and after following its course
for ten or twelve miles took a more Southern direc
tion. At Alliance it unroofed the Exchange Hotel,
besides blowing down a number of smaller buildings.
Several cars belonging to the Cleveland train, were
hurled from the track, fis well as a number of empty
freight cars that were upon the sideling. At a little
town called Smithfield, four miles this side, nearly
all the buildings were demolished by the violence of
the storm, and an aged colored man who was in ono
of them was so badly injured that he is not expected to
survive. A white woman who was in the came house
was badly hurt; also her little child severely burned
from the overturning of the stove. At Dammscus,
four miles still further East, a vast number of liuild
iugs were, leveled with the earth. ()or informant
states that it leveled nearly every thing in its course
flat to the earth, that it appeared to rut a clean
swathe out of the forest as it swept along. The
Western train due here at it I'. M., on Saturday, war
detained until 4 o'clock on Sunday morning.
The above paragraph should have appeared in
yesterday's issue, but through a mistake it was raid
over. Yesterday we reeeiseil an Alliance Lcdg, ex
tra, through the politeness of Mr. Wright, of Alle
gheny, from which we learn that the storm was even
more serious than first represented. The editor says,
The storm, we should think, lasted about three
minutes, during which time the air was literally tilled
with the various fragments of shattered buildings
and other missiles ip so leg about with terrille cio
knee. As soon as the gale bad spoilt its free, al
though the rain poured down in torrents, large num
bers Of our cit limns left their place, of retreat to ascer
tain the extent of the damages, and as dismantled
bonding, were seen in every direction, it was feared
hat the of life was great.
Mr. Isaac Johnson, a farmer resoling about and
mile west of the town, woe killed by a wall tailing
on him. The mother of Mr. Johnson. an elderly la
dy, experienced so severe a shock on beholding the
remains of her eon, that apoplexy was the remits
tpienee, W hich speedily terminated her cx istenee.
A Mr. Saeage, of Marlboro, who was at work on a
new building which was razed to the ground, was
seriously injured ; also a German named Fogle, who
woo at work in 1110 SUMO building.

rrWO YEARS have elapsed since the intro;

Daring this time it has gained enneara/ popularity as
remedy for
Itoer and Agye, ,
_; s 7dig•itio . n, headache,
Lou of Appdik, DerAly, u
rAidiveneu,
Blind and Bleeding Pats.
Many of our moot worthy citizens testify to Its wonderfnl
efficacy in all affections of the stomach and liver. As a
tonic, it never has been mualled, for the relief it affords In
all cases of debility or weakness of any kind is almost In
stantaneous. In nervous, rheumatic and neuralgic affec-
Mona, It has in numerous instances proved highly tenofteial,
and In others effected a decided cure.
When eminent physicians prescribe, and their pallenta so
unhesitatingly recommend, Rarely we may cease t doubt,
and eagerly teat its virtues' for ourselves.
A Mu of Eight Months' Mending Cured by Thrrhave //al.
land Bitt,s.—Michael Kelly, No. 117 Grant, near Smithfield
street, says: "Loot July, while running on the river, on a
cotton boat plying between Natchez and New Orleans, I was
taken with fever and ftgllo. For eight long months I suf•red
with this dreadful diaenee. The greater part of this time I
was unable to work, and spent at leant fifty dollars for dif
ferent medicines, but I found no permanent relief. Three
weeks ago, one of my friends 'palatial upon my trying Boer
hrive's Holland Bittern, saying that a cure was guaranteed.
After taking it for one week, I must state I was a sound
man. I have been at work now for two wake, and bane
had no return of the chills and fever whatever."
I certify the above statement is true.
Tamara ADAMS. Diamond House,
Or at R. Chester's, Gothic Hall.
HEADACHE AND DEBILITY.
Mr. Silas Llaconib, of Birmingham. says: "I have found
In Doerhore's Dithers a resianly fOr headache and debility.
My wife has also used It with the greatest benefit."
Mr. A. S. Nicholson, of Pittatmrgh, also remarks that ho
has experienced much relief from its nee for headache.
A Ildlemdn's Testirnony.—Juopb Rlnokce , living in the
Rolland settlement of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, says: "After
suffering for some time the misery attending an utter pros•
tration of mind and body, I have been restored, by using
reerhare's Rolland Bitters, to perfect health..
The fact of this remedy being in such high repute among
the Hollanders in Wisconsin, Michigan, New York—in fact,
In every Rolland settlement in the United Eltatea—argues
much In its favor.
STRENGTH AND HEALTH RESTORED.
Mr. John Davidson, living ten miles above Pittsburgh, on
the Pennsylvania Canal, enye: "When I commenced taking
Boorhavo's Holland Bitters, I could hardly walk—now, I
enjoy excellent health."
WEAKNESS OF THE STOhLACII AND INDIGESTION.
Another Great acre /reefed try Herhavefs Holland Bitters.
—The wife of Peter De Witte, living in Holland Town, She
boygnn county, Wisconsin, suffered much from weakness of
the stomach a¢ digestion. She had been under a physi
cian', care for some time, but the disease seemed to baffle
even his skill. She purchased some Holland Bitters at our
office, which has given tone to her stomach. her appetiteand.
strength are returning, raid we firmly believe that this is
another great cure effected by your medicine.
We have still to record many wonderfttl cures effected by
this remedy, but must wait another opportunity. One thing
you can rely upon, what we have published are from persons
much respected in our community, and are literally true.

suffering for three months with rheumatism--a part of the
time so severely as to confine me to my bed—l have been
entirely cured by using Ikerhave's Holland Bitters. I hove
had one attack since, bat found almost Instantaneous relief
in the same medicine. It is, In my opinion, a sure remedy
for rheumatism."

A GREAT KMICINE FOR FEMALES.
The anparalltled effects of this great restorative in all
complaints incident to females, mark a new era in the annals
of medicine. Thousands of stimulants have been invented—
thousands of invigoranta concocted—all purporting to be
recc_ified in the various diseases and derangements to which
the delicate formation of wonutia render her liable,
EVERY WOMAN OF SENSE,
Who suffers from weakness, derangement, nervousness, tre

Invigorating Cordial a trial.
MARRIED PERSONS,
Or others, will find this Cordial, after they have used a 60E

directions are to be found the happy parents of healthy off
spring, who would not have been so but for this extruordi

diocesesfor which It is recommended. Thousands of young
men have been restored by using it, and not in a single in
stance has it failiol to benefit them.
PERSONS OF PALE COMPLEXION,
Or consumptive habits, are restored by the us e of a bottle or

low, sickly color, to a beautiful florid complexion.
These are some of the sad and melancholy effects produced

power, palpitation of the heart, dyspepsia, nervous irrita
bility, derangement of the digestive functions, general de.
billty, symptoms of consumptions, etc.
Mentally, the Retrial effects on the mind ore much to be
dreaded. Loss of memory, confusion of ideas, depression of
spirits, evil forebodings, aversion to society, selfolLstrust,
love of solitude, timidity, etc., aro some of the evils produce:4i .
