F,nrt of —Yestordny was the day of moving.
there appeared to be a universal tilt all over town.
Baggage of all kinds, upon all sorts of conveyances,
was seen in transitu from morning until night
Men, women and children, leaving their old locality
and seeking the new, crowded along in the rear of,
or loaded with the needful trumpery of households.
What a bother i• this moving day. Three of them
are said to be as bad 11F a tire, and we think the addi
tion of a few more to the number would lie sufficient
to make us seek our last hour, whither, thank
heaven, the undertaker must remove no, and whence
we are not likely to go, without much trouble to oth
ers, of which we would be unconscious. Loaves
have their time to fall, birds to migrate, rate and
.rafts move when the water rises, and people on all
tool's day.
The origin of the silly habit of sending persons on
fruitless errands on this day has never been fully de
cided. Mr. Douncc. an ingenious delver into such
resaarcb, says: " After all the coujeeturez u hich
may have been formed touching its origin. it is rer

Our readers will please recolleet that the Panora
ma iif our city will be exhibited this evening, at
Franklin Hall. Resident artists who visited Prof.
.kiidrews while at work, pronounce it not only peen
rats, but true to life. The distant hills of the Ohio
river, the high cliffs of Coal Hill and Sligo, bearing
their long shadows on the waters of the Allegheny
and Monongahela, mutt give to that part of the
Panorama a romantic a.poct that would put to blush
the Rhine and its old cumin*. Butt the crowning
glory of this wonderful work, the partial views of
some of our moat prominent buildings and streets.
Here you can recognize is brother, a father, a father,
nay, even a lover. Mona. Andreiu is not only a
scenic artist, but a good judge of human yountenan-

once as well fitted for the work be has undertaken.
We will say but a word more. If our friends wish
to see it to-morrow evening, they will find it at
Franklin Hall.
