FRIDAY' MORNING .E.cope of Prisoner, from Joil.—Three prison ers named Dan. O'Brien, William Bell and John Kunsler yesterday morning escaped from the county jail, by opening the door leading into the yard, and scaling the walls. O'Brien was one of the turnkeys, and by virtue of hie office, in possession, during the day, of the inside keys of the building. In the even ing, as customary. be banded the keys over to the Jailor, Mr. Phillips, but unknown to him, retained the key of the door leading into the southern yard, and a cell door key. As Mr. Phillips had considera ble confidence in O'Brien. ho did not count the keys partbmlarly, and was thus unaware that two had been abstracted. About twelve o'clock at night the alarm bell of the jail, the a ire attached to which ex tends from the inside of the ball to Mr. Phillips' bed room, war violently rung. Upon going into the jail with two friends who happened tc be with him, he found O'Brien standing in the hall, and was informed by him that an old woman was sick in the female department. He proceeded up stairs to the cell in dicated, where ho ascertained that the story was. , Lase, as no person was ill at all. on coining down he charged O'Brien with practising a deception, but some trifling excuse was made, and Mr. Phillips re turned to his n.una with an undefined impression that something was wrong, but unable to fix on anything in particular. A few hours afterwards the WI was .A .., again rung, hut no attention was, paid to the dlarm Yesterday morning, Mr. Phillips opened tie dour of the jail at the usual time, but was somewhat sur prised to find O'Brien out of sight- A few minutes' search, however, cleared up the mystery. The yard door was open, and the three prisoners named above, missing. With the keys retained in his possession, O'Brien had opened the cell in which Bell and Konsler were confined, also the jail door, nod, with the aid of several dry goods lioxes, reached the top of the wall. Their descent on the other side was effected by n rope made out of sheets and blankets, which they attached by n small book to the wall. From developments made during the day, it ap pears that tr Brien had it in contemplation to rob the office, before making his escape; and it was with this plan in view he rang the alarm hell. Ile was under the impression that Mr. Phillips would come in alone, when he could be knocked down—murdered if necessary--the keys of the office secured, and the place plundered. The presence of the two visite, the first time, and the refusal of the Jailor to answer the alarm, the second time, frustrated this intention. The night previous to the escape, ("Brien borrow eil a gold watch from Jonas tirooes, n iTisoner: u pair of hoots from another, a nd sums of in,inoy others, with the promise to return them the neNt dad.
