'Special Cortelipoodvoce of tIo North Aideriran.l
The l'. S. Supreme Court will huh], by a consider
able majority, that the act of Congress of ISil, es
tablishing the Wheeling Bridge us a Post b., oft%
which was intended to annul the former decrio•
the Court against the Bridge, is constitutional, i.n.!
the Bridge a legal structure. The case Caine ul. , m
an action of contempt against the Bridge Company,
for refusing to execute the first decision, and this
law was pleaded in justification, which is now sus
tained.
In a pending cause, indirectly involving the con
stitutionality of the Missouri Compromise, a ma
jority of the Court will refuse to allow the benefits of
that act to the colored plaintiff claiming freedom en
der it, but will perhaps extenuate the denial upon the
ground that he voluntary returned to bondage. It
was expected that the Court would stand five to four
on this subject, but rumor speaks of Judge Grier xis
inclining to the Southern side, which would make
the Court stand six to three. There will probably
be strong dissenting opinions. The decree will he
made in a fortnight.

was the right of the plaintiffs to make repairs.
The Court decided that ordinary and necea , ary
repairs might be made, if done in a seasonable
and proper manner. The case has been fought
stoutly by the defendants, this being the see-nd

"But how long will it be before you will he

"Never! never"
At this moment Effie waked up, and gave a cry
of joy as she saw " mamma."
Mrs. Crosby, ns soon as she could collect her
senses, began to think she had onjy been dream
ing, but when she heard Tom and Willie talking
about the new school, and saw how the dust had
collected about the windows, she feared it was,
after all, a reality. But by and by, she heard a
hell ring, and when she found that it was really
Sunday she knew that her past experience had
been a substantial thing of real life, for it was
on Wednesday that she had hut seen the magic
stone. And then hor headache and other bodily
pain yet remained to admonish her of the ini:4.ery
ehe had suffered.
It was over two years before Mrs. Crosby dis
covered the secret of that three days' experience
she had had in 'high life." and even then dis
covered it by accidentally overhearing a conver
sation between her husband and Mr. Newton.
Until then she had firmly believed that she owed
the experience to a deed of magic. She now
realized the many blessings she enjoyed, and no
more gave way to discontent.

Herres. A. 11. <l‘ D. Sands, Ness York--Cientlement In the
spring of 1853 I left Indiana with toy wife and:seven chil
dren for Oregon, and arrived safely at Salmon Palls, Snake
River, without any difficulty; at this place our eldest boy was
i7).1 with a awelling and einem pains in the lep. which
day by day grew worse, until his legs contracted and became
so painful that he could not walk; we had to tarry him in
end about the wagon like an infant; hie moaning was
dreadful, keeping us awake nearly all night. We reached
Albany on the - 3d of October, completely warn out by
fatigue; by this time 'be was reduced to a perfect skeleton.
tiers wo were enabled to consult a physician, Dr. Bill, who
honestly confessed ho could not core him, although he could
give him medicine that would relieve the pain. In this exi
gency something remained to be done speedily, or death was
inevitable. Being recommended to try your Sarsaparilla, I
procured a bottle; after taking, some he appeared worse; but
persevering with it, obtained a second bottle, which seemed
to grapple with the disease, and caused a marked improve
ment the swelling and pain in the legs were reduced, his
appetite improved, and his color began to return. Thin en
couraged, I pnrchaaed a third bottle, while taking which the
swellings in his lege broke, and some pieces of bones one
eighth of an inch long came out; after which his leegg s
straightened and healed up. Ile is now perfectly
hie+ no appearance of being a cripple, and can perform moat
kinds of common labor. All this has been effected, as many
am certify, by three bottles of your valuable Sarsaparilla, of
which, under providence, my son remains a Living testimo
nial. Yours, respectfully, CALEB DAVIS.
