The St. Lawrence Hotel, Philadelphia.—Our fel
low-townsman, William S. Campbell, Esq., will open
his new hotel in Philadelphia to-day, and will be as
sisted by Mr. George W. Mullin, also formerly of
this city. We copy an extract from a long article in
the Bulletin :
" The now and enlarged structure is now 60 feet in
width, and extends through from Chestnut street to
George, a distance of 235 feet. The building is five
stories in heighth, and the front, which is covered
with mastic, and painted in imitation of brown stone,
presents an imposing appearance, and it forms a stri
king feature of Chestnut street. The new establish
ment has been christened the ' St. Lawrence Hotel,'
and it has been leased to Mr. William S. Campbell,
formerly of the St. Charles Hotel, Pittsburgh. Mr.
C. enjoys a wide-spread reputation as a caterer, and
he is assisted in the management of the new estab
lishment, by Mrs. M. L. Neefe, the late popular pro
prietress of the Yellow Springs, Pennsylvania, who
will have the whole anfl entire charge of the Ladies'
Department, and by Mr. George W. Mullin, late Su
perintendent of the St. Charles.

A Correrty . ort.—ln our report of the proceedings of
the Democratic convention, on Wednesday, we dated
that Col. Black seconded the motion to lay the rest ,
lotion of M. I. Stewart, relative to United States
Senator, upon the table. This was incorrect. Col.
Black seconded the resolution itself, and not to lay it
upon the table. The error was inadvertently ceased
by the confusion which prevailed in the convention
at the time.

Health Report.—The interments in the city for the
week ending on Monday were only seven. Of these
five were adults and two childreen. Two died-with
consumption, three disease of the brain, one con
vulsions, and one paralysis. Four were males, three

that of a majority of them, judgment to be entered
by the l'rothonatary without exception un appeal.
Jahn S. Smitten vs. F. H. Eaton. Marshall and
Brown for plaintiff; R. Arthurs fur defendant. About
a year ago defendant instituted suit against plaintiff
for the larceny of a raft, but on trial in the Court of
Quarter Sessions a verdict of not guilty was rendered.
This action is brought to recover damages fur loss of
reputation, alleged to have been sustained by that
charge. On trial.
The Jury in the case of Jonas R. M'Clintock vs. S.
S. Fowler A Co. returned a verdict of $1,321 79 fur
plaintiff.
