THE CONVENTION
The County Democratic Convention meets tn.

delegates to the State Convention. which meets

hope only such delegates will be elected Its will
be sure to go if alive, and not sell their places to
ambitious politicians who 'cannot get an election
at innne, but are anxious to •'cut a figure
abroad. We have no faith in that way of repre

to ru❑ a a candidate, anti, if elected. that friend
can rettign and appoint him as a substitute. That
kind tit' thing has lieeodone too often, and-we
hope this Convention will try to tind a remedy
for the wrong.

Is the advantage, then, all on the side of immatu

iu knowledge decrease in power' On the contrary,
it is because capable of higher utilities to society,
that they lose the power of lesser forms of usefulness.
Details lose their freshness because by repetition they
resolve themselves into general truths. But without
going through all the vividness of first impressions
and youthful impulse, these more mature experiences
of the various walks of life would never have been
et olved at all. Not only the progress of mankind
would be rendered impossible, but all the higher re

The active man of business way seem less alert at

former knowledge le enlarging the boundaries of
