A Pittebeiryher Abmad. —The Rev. Alfred Cook

Johnstown last week, delivering the first lecture of
the season before the Literary Association of that
thriving borough. The ifoomois Echo speaks in
high terms of the reverend gentleman's effort. It
says :
The lecture in the Methodist Church, on last
Thursday evening, by the Rev. Alfred Cookman, of
Pittsburgh, is said to have been a grand affair, by
those who were so fortunate as to hear it.. Mr. Cook
man, as an orator, certainly stands high, and do
■ervedly so, and we congratulate the Johnstown
Literary Association in their good fortune in securing
the services of so able a champion to deliver the jig.(
of their contemplated series of lecture,. We are in
formed that the rerond of the series will conic off in
the coarse of ten days or two weeks, duo notice of
which will be given. Should the Association be
equally fortunate in the succeeding lectures, wo doubt
not but their most sanguine expectations will be
realized, their library increased and our oitizens gen

Many of our most worthy citizens testify to its wonderful
efficacy in all affections of Pao stomach and liver. As a
tonic, it never bail boon equalled, for the relief It affords in
all cases of debility or weakness of any kind Is almost 'in
stantaneous. In nervous, rheumatic and neuralgic affec-
tions, it has in numerous instances proved highly beneficial,
and in others effected a decided cure.
When eminent physicians prescribe, and their patients so
unhesitatingly recommend, Barely we may cam t doubt,
and eagerly teat its virtues for ourselves.
