road..
The Proprietors of this old established line, having
coinpleted their arrangements, are prepared to for

--the canal navigation,) on as reasonable terms as any
other responsible line, and are determined that no
care or attention on their part shall be wanting to se
cure a continuatice of that patronage so liberally be
stowed upon them nil. several years past.
The decided success of the portable boat system,
so manifest in the regularity and despatch experienced
in the aelivery of goods, the absence of all risk of
delay, breakage or other damage, incident to the old
iystem,. where goods have to be hurriedly transhipped
three time.s on the way, and the merchantable order
in which produce has been avowedly delivered by
them,
has induced the proprietors to increase their
stock considerably this season. Their extensive
warehouses at each point, (uneaqualled by any other
line,) affords them thcilitiesto conduct their business
with despatch; and to shippers the convenience of
free storage, if required, until their arrangements are
completewhile their long experience in the carry
ing trade, it is presumed, will be sufficient guarantee
to theirpatrons and the public that they will success
fully exart themselves to give general satislitetion.
Produce received forwarded, steamboat charges
paid, andbills lading transmitted free of charge ihr

RARE CHANCE FOR GOOD INVESTMENTS!
The subscriber has laid out, and now offers for
sale at reasonable prices and on accommodating
terms, one hundred and ten building lots, on that
handsome level ground between Braddock street and
the Alonongaliela.river. They arc about one-third
of a mile from the city line, and are situated in that
part of the city district which will probably soon be
annexed to the city as the Seventh Ward. No pro
perty in the suburbs possesses superior advantages,
nor has any heretofore been laid out with so liberal
an allowance of wide streets; Braddock is from one
hundred and twenty to about one hundred and ninety
feet wide, and Beaten, Commerce, Brady, Columbus
and Water streets, all - wide avenues. Most of the
lots have-two fronts, and as they arc of various sizes,
and will be sold one lot, with the priuileg,e of four or
live, early applicants can be accommodated to suit
their own views of improvement. Persons who de
sire to build or to make secure investments in pro
perty that is sure to advance in value, and particular
ly thoSe who intend to erect manufactories would
do well to view these lots and examine the draft be
fore purchasing elsewhere. The.survey for the Bal
timore and Ohio railroad and the railroad survey by
the State of Pennsylvania were both made alongside
of this property, and it is generally considered that
Braddock street, or the ground immediately alongside
of it, affords the only eligible :Cite for 1' railroad
from Pittsburgh to the East. Coal can be delivered
on this property at a much less cost than on the Al
legheny river, and there is always deep water at this
part of the river. E. D. GAZZAM,

od of making a statement of nets to you (which
hope may be published to the world) in reference tit
an almost miraculous cure, wrought in my case by
means of the above invaluable
,Balsam..,
Language fails tu•describo the salutary effects it nisi
duced, and the great benefit I derived from its use.
The citizens of Dayton and vicinity, well recol
lect that on the Bth of August last, I received seri
ous injury from the explosion of a cannon. A-por
tion of its contents catered my right side and breast;
and in all probability, some fragments or splinters of
the rant-rod passed through the "plura," and pierced
the Lungs.
After the lapse of about six weeks, I was attacked
with a distressing cough and a violent pain •in My
right side. Some ten days after this when in a pai•-
orysm of coughing, suddenly and ULCER broke, and
a large quantity of very of fensive matter, mixed
with blood, wan discharged; most of which found
passage through the opening of the wound. Fro)n
this epening there frequently passed a quantity Of
air, supposed to issue from the lungs. During all
this lime my sufferings were almost intolerable.
My physicians, meanwhile paid the strictest attiM
tion to me, and did all in their power for my ?coy
ery. But with all their skill they could not reabh
the seat of distress, after the Lungs had become affect
ed. I was visited during this time by at least twenty
Physicians.
it was now reduced to a certainty, that inflamat ion
if the lungs v. as rapidly taking place; and that this
would terminate my life in a %cry short to x ic,was; in
the highest degree probabie.
At this critical stage, n messenger was despatched
to Cincinnati, and a celebrated Physician - of that
place was consulted. When he was made acquaint
ed with my situation, he remarked that nothing could
he done by medical aid, if the constitution itself \la!
not sufficient to throw ar the fj.:. ...
My friends new despaired of my recovery, and I
had no earthlygrimnd of hope to service many day's.
Fortunately at this juncture. I saw one or Dr. Wis.:
tar's Pamphlets, entitled "Fanoly Medical Collide,"
or •••Treatn.e On Constinipttvn of the Lungs." As

to be up and abaci!. My cough ceasod, and nay
item re,tured to a healthy state—ail from the heal
ing and balmy in f luence and powerful utedicituil sir-'

Were it not Irma the external injury I received in
my i diot:Wer and arm by the explosion. I feel confi

hours without intermission, and having tried various
remedies with little effect, was furnished with a bot

The medicine was afterwards used whenever indica ,

'
GREATEST CUItE.IESER RECORDED!—
" Dr. SwAiinn—Dear' "Sir: 'I feel iti a debt of
gratitude dub you—and a duty to the afflicted gen
erally, to offer my humble testimony in favor of your
Compound Syrup of Prunus Virginia) ori Wild Cher
ry, or rather of its medicinal virtud.s. ;Some three
years since I was violently attackerrwith cold and
intlamation of the Lungs, which was accompanied
with a very distressing cough, pain in the breast and'
headj , a very eoirsidrable discharge of offensive
mucus from the longs, frequent from them, especial-
Ily from changes of wvather, however slight, At first
I felt no alarm about my condition, but was pretty
soon convinced that I was rapidly going into con
sumption. I grew daily weaker, and at length was
scarcely able to walk about, or speak above a whis
per, such was the exceedino . weakness Of my lungs.
During this time I had trielvarious preparations and
prescriptions, but found no relief—growing all the
time worse. Just here I was advised add persuadial
by a dear friend in Wilmington, to Make trialof
your Syrup of Wild Cherry; I must confess that pre
viously I had been prejudiced againstipatent medi
cines, and am still against those coming out of the
hands of ernpirics, but understanding your claims. to
. the profession and practice of medicine, and having
implicit Ihithin the say so of my friend, I forthwith
purchased of Dr. Shaw, one of your agents, a few
bottles, and! commenced its use. :lly disease at
this time was of 20 or 24 months standing, conse
quently, was deeply seated. It therefore required
time and a number of bottles to effect a cure in my
ease; I found, however, considerable relief from the
first four or five bottles: Rut being a pirblic speaker,
I frequently attempted to preach with my increasing
strcinah and health, and thereby ruptured those ves
sels that had already began to heal,i in this way,
doubtless, my cure was greatly retarded. In conse
quence of actieg thUs imprudently, I had to use 12
or Id bottles before I Was perfectly restored. I have
uo question, a touch smaller number of bottles
would have made me sound, but for the above indis
cretion. The Syrup allayed the feverish habit, done
away the distressing cough, put a stop to the dis
charge of Matter from the lungs, and gave therit and
the entire system, good health. 'Plinths he to God,
who is the' souree of all health, and Ito Dr. Switynel
for it. I Would recommend the Syrup to allper-.
sons who thaw be affected with colds, l cough or con-
I sumption. 'I verily believe it will cure consumption
I in the first and second stages, and in the last, will
give ease Mid prolong fife. It is an excellent medi
cine in cases of whoopiug cough, shit is so very
pleasant to:the taste, that children will cry for it. I
have deferred offering this certificate; until now, fur
the purpose of being perfectly satisfied with the per
manency of the cure, and now that I feel perfectly
well, I offer it with pleasure.
