cure a continuance of that patrOnage so.liberally be
stowed upon them for several years past.
The decided success of the portable boat system,
so manifest in the regularity and despatch experienced
in the delivery of goods, the absence of risk of
delay, breakage or otherdainage, incident to the old
system, where goods have to be hurriedly transhipped
three times on the way, and the merchantable order
in which produce' has been avowedly deliver'ed by
them, has induced the proprietors to increase their
stock considerably this season. Their extensive
Warehouses at each point, (uneaqualled by any other
line,) affords them facilities to conduct their business
with despatch; and to shippers the convenience of
free storage, if required, until their arrangements are
complete--while their ising experience in the carry

to their patrons and the public that they will success
fully exert themselves to give general satisfaction.

handsome level ground between Braddock street and
the Monongahela river. They arc about one-third
of a mile from the city line, and are stunted in that
part of the city district which will probably soon he
annexed to the city as the Seventh Ward. No pro
perty in the suburbs posses,es superior advantages,
nor has any heretothre been laid out with so liberal

five, early applicants can be accommodated to suit
their own views of improvement. Persons who de- I
sire to build or to make secure investments in pro

timore and Ohio railroad and the railroad survey by
the State of Pennsylvania were both made alongside
of this property, and it is generally considered that
Braddock street, or the ground immediately alongside
of it, affords the only eligible route for a railroad
from Pittsburgh to the East. Coal can be delivered
on this property at a much less cost than on the Al

Nature, in every part of her work% has left indeli

The constitution of the animals and vegetables-of

cold of the frigid zone, and vice vesa.
!In regard to diseases and its cure, the adaption is
mere or less striking.
The Moss of Iceland, the Wild'Uherry and Pines
of all Northern' latitudes (and "Dr. Wm -yin's Rm.-

ANOTHER ASTONISHING CURE!
*MAR'S BALSAM OF WILD CIIERRY, always triuni
pliant! cure fellows cure in its onward victorious
career!
J. W. Whitmore.—Dear Sir: As yonare the reg•
filar authorized agent in Dayton, for the sale of '.)r.
Wistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry," I take this meth
tid of making a statement of facts to you (which "I
hope may be published to the world) in referene to
an almost miraculous cure, wrought in my case by
Means cf the above Invaluable Balsam.
Language fails to describe the salutary effects it pro
duced, and the great benefit 1 derived from its list.
The citizens of Dayton and vicinity, well recol
lect that on the Bth of August last, I received Seri
dos injury from the explosion of a cannon. A Poe
lion of its contents entered my right side and breast;
iind in all probability, some fragments or splinters of
the ram-rod passed through thu "plum," and pierced
the Lunen.
After the lapse of about nix Weeks, I was attar cd
tvith a distressing cough and a violent pain in my
tight ride. Sumo ten days after this then in a 'par
iheySal of coughing, suddenly and ULCER broke, and
a large quantity of very offensive matter, Mixed
With blood, was discharged; most of which f•punii
passage through the opening of the wound. Irrom
this (Toning there frequently passed a quantity of!
ids, supposed to issue from the lungs. Darin:;;
'/1/.1 !Lic sip sufferings were almost intolerable. •
My physicians, meanwhile paid the strictest atten-1
Xion to nic, and did all in their power for my rUcuy
' fiery. Itut with all their skill they could not reach'
of distress, afit-r lA , Lungs Lid becoine ofeet-1
'rd„ I was visited during this time by at leant taenly
':physicians.
•
It was now reduced m a certainty, that 411am:inn]
of the lungs wan rapidly taking place; and tle...t this !
Itwould terminate my life, in a very short time, Was
highest degree probabie.
At this critical stage, a messenger was despatched
to Cincinnati, and a celebrated Physician of that
place was consulted. When he %%A...made acqhaint-I
litd with my situation, lie remarked that nothing could'
:be done by medical aid, if the constitution itsalf was ,
I
. .
!not sunk:tent to throw olr the disease.
My friends now despaired of my recovery, and I
t had no earthly ground of hope to survive madly' days.
Fortunately at this juncture, I saw one of Dr. Wis.
tarn Pamphlets, entitled "Family Medical tleide,"
"Treatise on Consumption of the. Lungs." An I
had often heard of dying Men "catching at strews,"
I felt this doing so myself. Dv the consent.Of my
Physicians, I sent to you for a bottle of the medicine
described " Wisiar's Balsam of Wild CtiSrry,"
which relieved me almost immediately. After I
had used sonic five or nix bottles I solar recovered as
lobe up and about. My cough ceased, and my lungs
' were restored to a healthy state—all from the-heal
ing and balmy iatluence and powerful medicbwl vir
tues of Pristar's Balsam.
Were it not from the external injury I rect . ocd in
my shoulder and arm by the explosion, I feel, confi
dent that I might have been working at my. trade
(which is black: mashing.) but tins has prevented.
liv exposure, I have uancc taken several severe
colds, and my only remedy has been "the balsam."
And I now most cardiallV recommend the &stins
II istar's Balsam to all wlio are afflicted with:Colds,:
C-nighs, or Lung Complaints. I consider it an local
e Ode medicine—a real blessing. to the world. Any

CERTIFICAT E
From the Rev. Asa, Shinn, of the Protestant Me.thost-
The undersigned having been afflicted during the
past winter with a disease in the stomach, sometimes
prodcing severe pain in the stomach for ten or twelve
hours without intermission, and having tried various
remediei with little effect, was furnished with a bot
tle of Dr. JAYNE'S' CAILIHNITIVE BALSA3I. This he
used according to the directions, and found invaria
bly that this medicine caused the pain to abate in
bree or four mitnites, and-in fifteen or twenty min
utes every uneasy sensation was entirely quieted.
The medicine was•afterwards used whenever indica
tions of the approach of pain were perceived, and
the pain was thereby prevented. lie continued to
use the medicine every evening, and sometimes in the
morning, and in a few weeks health was so far rel
I stored, that the sufferer was relieved from a large
amount of oppressive pain. From experience, there
fore, he can confidently recommend Dr. D. Jayne>s
Carminative Balsam, as a salutary medicine for dis
eases of the stomach and bowels. A. SHINN.

DR. S:iVAVNE , S
COMPOUND SYRUP OF WILD CHERRY. 1
TRE GREATEST CURE EVER RECORDED 1-H
Dr. SwAyNE—Deiir Sir: I feel it a' debt of
gratitude duo you—and a duty to: the 'afflicted geb
erally, to offer rity hunible testimony in raver of yohr
Compound Syrup of Prunus Virginia, or Wild Ch4r.
ry, or rather of its medicinal virtues. Some three
years since I was violently attacked with cold and
inflamation of the Lungs, which was accompanied
with a very distressing cough, pain in the breast and
head; a very considerable discharge of Ofrenslye
MUCUS from the lung,s,Trequent from them, especinl
ly from changes of wentlier, however slight. At first
I felt no alarm about joy condition, but was pretty
soon convinced that :I was rapidly going into con
sumption. I grew daily weaker, anti at length W,as
scarcely ab a te to walklabout, or speak above a whis
per, such was the exceeding weakness of my lungs.
During this time I had tried various preparations and
prescriptions, but fotinil no relief—growing all (he
time worse. Just here 1 was advised and persuaded
by a dear friend itilWilmington, to make trial l of
your Syrup of Wild Cherry; I must confeas that pre
tiously !'had beei, prejudieed against patent monli-:
cinea, and am still against those coming out of the,
hands of empirics, but understanding your claims to
the profession and practice of medicine, and baying,
implicit faith in the. !ray so of my friend, I fortliWith,
purchased of Dr. Shaw, one of your agents, a few
bottles, and commenced its use. My disease at'
this time was of 2U ;or 2-1 months standing,
quently, wan deeply!!aeated. It therefore requtred
thee and a number of bottles to effect a cure inltny
case; I found, however, considerable relief fromithe
first tour or five bottles. But being a public speaker,'
1 frequently attempted to preach with my increasing,
strength and health, end thereby ruptured those ter,
sums that hail already Legan to heal, in this %fay, ,
doubtless, my cure was greatly retarded. In conse
quence of acting thus imprudently, I had to use 121
or 13 bottles before L was perfectly re-Atired. I have i
no question, a much smaller member of bottles,
would have male mu sound, but for the above iddis-,
eretion. The Syrupallayed the feverish habit, done
away the distressing cough, put a stop to theldisel
charge of matter from the, lungs, and gave then - 11mM
,
the entire system, good health. Thanks be to Gotl,;
who is the sonree of all health, and to Dr. Swayne
for it. I would recommend the Syrup to all lyer- I
sons who may be affected with colds, cough orton
sumption. I verily believe it will cure consumption
in the first and second stages, and in the last,!
give ease and prolong life. it is an excellent Medi
cine in cases of whooping cough, and is so !very
.
pleasant to the taste, that children will cry for I
have deferred offering this certificate until novi, for
the purpose of being perfectly satisfied with the!per
maneucy of the cure, and now that I feel perfectly
well, I offer it with pleasure.
