MOTHER PROOF of the efficacy of Dr. Click
ner's Sugar Coated l'illa in removing worms
from children. Read and be convinced.
This is to certify that my child Eliza, between five
and six years of age, having been for a long time past
drooping, and getting much worse of late, neither
myself nor my wife being aware what was the mat
ter with her, I thought perhapsone of Dr.Clickner's
pills might do her good—l gave her one at bed time,
which acted on the bowels and expelled a Tape
worm four feet long, and a groat number of worms,
(over one hundred) about one inch long apparently
of the same species.
I have always been much opposed to advertised
medicines, but through the advice of a friend who
strenuously recommended them to me, I was induced
to try them, and it was through the great benefit I
derived from their use in my complaint, that I felt
disposed to give a dose to my daughter, although I
knew not then what was the matter with her; and I
verily believe that had not the worms been dischar
ged, she wouldnot have survived to the present time.
She commenced rapidly to improve and is now quite
. hearty and well

SUDDEN CHANGES.
The ➢lother otConstimptions.
THIS fact is clearly demonstrated wherever we
have a sudden change in the weather. It is at
this time that the seed of Consumption is sown in
the system nurtured until the Lungs become serious
ly and dangerously diseased, when in all probability
the patient, for the first time, will begin 'to seek re
lief. How many thousands thus neglect themselves
and suffer their Health, and finally their Life to be
destroyed. The first preceptible foot-prints of CON
SUMPTION, experienced at sudden changes of the
weather, are Hoarseness and Cough, Soreness of the
Throat, and Irritation of the Bronchi. Vain in the
Head, Coldness of the feet, and Sudden Chilliness
over the Body. At length the cough increases, and
finally prostration and languidness of the whole sys
tem follows, which indicate a sudden decline of
Health, And the speedy approach of Consumption.
These facts, plain as they appear to every sensible
persondo not, however, seem to alarm those afflicted,
until it may be to late. It is therefore of the great
est importance for those who may be attacked from
the effects of sudden changes in our atmosphere to
at o n c procure DR. DUNCAN'S Celebrated Expecto
rant .Remedy, the greatest Preventive and Life guard
of CONSUMPTION, and the only certain medicine
that will remove disease and again restore the
LUNGS to their former Health.

LATER FROM TILE ARMY.
Arrived of steamer Fashion—Movement of Troops'
up the Rib Grande—Camargo taken, surrender
ed toitthou't firing a gun—negotiations for Peace
supposed to be on foot.
The stemnship Fashion, Captairi Fullerton, arri
ved at New Orleans on the 28th ult. from Brazos
Santiago. The Picayune has not received their
letters by this arrival, but learn verbally that there
is a general' mokement of the troops on the Rio
Grande. Gen. Taylor was' still at Matamoras.
but he was 'sending forward his recruits as fast as
his means of transportation would permit him to
do so.
Advices had arrived of the taking of the town
of Camargo. Six companies of the 7th Regiment
entered that place a day or two before the Fashion
sailed, with Out firing a gun. These companies,
were under; the command of Captain Whiting
and others.! When the U. S. troops arrived at Ca
margo, Col. Carrajabal was on the opposite side
of the St. 4uan river. He witnessed the entrance!
of the troops into the town, but offered no resis
tance.
Gen.•TaYlor had received reports from recon
noisance parties, who reported only three hundred
troops at Monterey. The general impression in !
the army Was that there would be no resistance,
offered to the American forces this site of that I
city. NoP
e arations for an attack of the town!
were made!
The absence of every thing that indicated re
sistance on the part of the enemy had led to the
belief in the army that the war was at an end.—
The impression was that negotiations for peace
were on foOt. There was no otrier way of account
ing for the hpparent suppineness of the Mexicans.
Reports had reached *le camp that Paredes was
afraid to leave the city of Mexico—his presence
there being necessary to keep down a threatened
revolution. ,
Occasional broils between the Mexicans and
Texan volhuteers occurred. The regular soldiers
exerted every means for the protection of the cit
izens, who were promised security and support in
case they conduct themselves in a peaceable and
inoffensive manner.
There was a rumor in camp that Mr. Lumsden
and his party bad been intercepted and cut off by
Indians. The report was not generally credited.
The volunteers were suffering from diarhma, but
otherwise!were well.
The FaShion left Brazos Santiago last Tuesday
and experienced heavy weather on the trip.
The Sea left eighteen hours before the Fashion.
and has not yet arrived.

The weather to-day has been clear and delight-I

ry at all, Dr. Leidy's Blood Pills will effect all that
can be: effected by any known pills in the world,
for all the virtues that can be combined in pills
are contained in them, and their established repu
tation is the best proof of it. No other Pills are
known , to contain Sarsaparilla in them, and all
other Pills called by names nearly similar, are
manufactured only with a view to sell them on
the reputation of the true and genuine DR.
LEIDI"S SAIISAPARILLA VEGETABLE
BLOOD PILLS, the tirst and original introduced
by such name.
Be cautious, therefore; ask for and take no oth
rs. and you will not be deceived in their effects.
whilst if you take of the spurious, or imitations.
you will not only be deceived by their eilticts;
which are ofttimes serious and dangerous, but de
ceived out of your money also.
Male and female, young aud old. cau take them
at all limeit i ln all diseases, without change of liv
ing„ restraint from occupation, or fear of expo

minerals, nor any ingredient whatever that is un
friendly or dangerous to the constitution. Try
them,'; try them; if their effects do not confirm the
foregoing, their cost will be refunded by Dr. Leidy

1,0- Their virtues are so infallible that the money
will be returned in all cases they do not give univer
sal satisfaction. Although but two anda half years
have elapsed since these celebrated Pills were first
introduced to the public, the sale of them in the
Eastern and middle States has far exceeded Dr.
Clickener's most sanguine expectations. Miring the
past year, alone, no less than 10.000 gross of holes
hate been sold in the State of New York, 6,000 in
Peatiavlvania 4,000 in Maryland, 3,000 in New Jets,'
sey, 2:000 in Delaware, and 9,000 in the New England
States, requiring the constant employment of 27'
hands, exclusive ot printers and engravers. In the I
same period, upwards of 200,000 copies of the
"Family Doctor" have been ordered by agents in
every section of the csuntry. These facts must)
show, conclusively, that Dr. Clickener's Sugar Coat
ed Pills, besides being the very best medicine in the
world, are held in the highestestirnation by the public. I
We might extend this publication to nn indefin
ite length, if we deemed it expedient to publish all'
tersimonials we have received, not only from agents
but individuals and families, who have experienced
the benficial effects of Clickener's Sugar Coated
Pills, but we deem it unnecessary. The most in
contesuble evidence of their unprecedented success.
are the numberless Imitations and Counterfeits which
have alt eady appea rbd, notwithstanding the brief pe
riod they have been before the public. Even some
of our staunchest pill makers have had the audacity
to imitate the Capsule of Sugar, in order to disguise
the ingredients of their vile compounds, rind palm
them off for the "real Simon pure." Such paltry
shifts cannot last long without exposing their hideous
deformity. Truth and honesty must inevitably pre
vail over rascality and deception.

Dr. Clickener's principal office is SI Barclay street,

as both the pills and the pretended patent are for
geries, got up by a miserable quack in New 'York,
who, for the last four or five years, has made his
living by counterfeiting popular medicines.
Ira- Remember, Dr. C. V. Clickener is the orilitnal
inventor of Sugar Coated Pills, and that nothing of
the sort was ever heard of until he introduced them
in June, 1843. Purchasers should, therefore, always
ask for Clickeners Sugar Coated Vegetable Pills, and

ILE citizens of Pittaburgh continue to be 'offered
an opportunity to effect insurance upon their
property, by a Domestic institution,: locateu among
themselves, based 'upon domestic capital, and cen
ducted by directors, in whose prudence, inte•nity and
good faith they can readily ascertain whether they
may repoie that undoubted security which should
ever attend an assurance transaction.
To persons whose properzyhas already been dam
aged or destroyed .by fire or water, the advantage of
personally adjusting the loss. with an institution AT
Horan, will be strikingly evident. To flumewho suffer
ed
by the Great Fire, this particular corporation needs'
no recommendation. The prompt payment of the
whole amount of its losses--NEADLY TWO HUNDRED
THOUSAND DOLLAAS—IS to them a sufficient guarantee
of future security.
It is the part of all prudent men, however fortu
nate, to anticipate calamity for the purpose of avoid
ing its effects. To such as have hitherto escaped, as
well as to those who havO sustained loss, the facility
of protection and indemnity, offered by this. institu
tion, will be the strongest inducement to avoid the
reflections and regrets which =tit be experienced
by those who suffer without hope of restitution.

NEVER DESPAIR—You Can be cured!
LANDERISVILLE, (N. J.) June 10,`1846
Dr: D: Javrtn, No. 8 south Third street, Philadel
phia.7-Dear Sir—l have this day had an interview
with the gentleman of whom I made mention to you
as having taken: your Expectrirantxvith such decided
effect. He is a respectable 'farmer; living a few miles
from here. I was so much interested in a detailed
account he gave me of his cough and cure, that I
embrace the first Repro moment: to communicate it
to you, and if the cure is as radical as it appears to
be, it is the most remarkable one I have ever known.
For 32 years (after baying the innease has been,
suffering with a cough of the most distressing kind,
getting worse as be advanced in years; (he is now 03.)
Frequent terms of coughing' and difficulty of breath-j
ing, lasting from an hour to an hour and a 'half,'
would come upon him, with such severity as to ex
haust him, with strangling until his eyes became
bloodshot. lie had despaired of being cured, hav
ing tried physicians and a thousand things without
relief. For nine weeks immediately previous to his
taking the Expectorant, he had not been able tego
i to his barn, although there was the most urgent ne
cessity for him to do so.
(During the nine weeks he yas under the care of
eminent Physician, and he finally got just able to
go out and came to my store, and, heating his cough,
I recommended to him your Expectorant. He first
said he had tried HO many things that he had no con
fidence in any thin g ; but I induced hint to take a bot
tle by telling him of persons of toy acquaintance who
had been decideply benc..t.t I:by it., This was on
Tuesday; that night he took of it, and says that-it was
I the first comfortable night's sleep he had enjoyed
for years. en the Thursday following he went to
work, and has continued to make a full hand :on his
farm ever since, (now nearly two months.) He told
me to-day that fur the last week lie had cut and split
a hundred rails ) or made 100 panels of fence per day;
has been in the water to wash }Us sheep, and other
wise exposed, without the leastsymptom of a return
of his cough, it having entirely disappeared, and,
strangest of ill, one third of a bottle has produced
the effect. He seems so thankful and overjoyed that
he "wants to talk all day about and says that if
he could not procure another bottle, he would. refuse
$lOO for the remainder of the bottle he has left.
Your Carminitive Balsoin I have used or recom
mended to others for_the last ten year, with the
most salutary effect. KespectfUlly yours,

SCRATCH! SCRATCH! !----Tett cr, Itch, Salt
Rhruns, 45-c.—Who would scratch for a single,
day, when afflicted with the 'Fetter, Itch, or other
diseases of the skin, if they knew what would re
lieve and cure them? 'Tie horrible to be obliged
to rub and scratch whelt alone but more horrible
to abstain from it (for decency's sake) when in
company. :Let it be remembeted that DR. LEI
DY'S !FETTER AND um OINTMENT is the
most effleadions of any other preparation in exist
ance in curing the 'Fetter, Itch, and other diseases
of the skin. As all diseases of the skin must arise
from the impurity of theblood and fluids of the
body, and where such diseases may be of long
standing, and the constitution effected thereby, if
Dr. Leidy's Sarsaparilla; Blood Pills be used with
the ointment, they will cure any 'case whatever.
and they do not, the money will be returned by
Dr. Leidy. Most eases; however, will be effectu
ally cured by Dr. Leidy's 'Fetter and Itch Oint
ment. unless the whole system is impregnated by
the diseased humors, Nihich will be completely
carried off from the syStim by Dr. Leidy's Blood
Pills, and the surface of the skin healed by the
Ointment. Price of Ointment, :25 cents. For sale

THE SKIN AND COMPLEXION, at this nd,

some of the thousands who take purgative ledieine,
