LANDRETH'S NURSERIES AND GARDENS
"These extensive grounds are on Federal street,
near the Arsenal. • • • • The earliest collec
tion of Camellias was made here. Some of those
no* in possession of those distinguished nurserymen
are ten feet high. • • • • The selection of
GREEN-ITOUSS: PLANTS is valuable and extensive.
"The Nurseries ore very-correctly managed, sup
plying every part of the. Union, a timid of which
would occupy too much of our space, we therefore
content ourselves with stating .that the stock is very
large, and in every stage of growth, coueeisti g of
FOREST AND OICsiAMENTAI: TREES, EVER
GREENS, SHRUBS, VINES AND CREEPERS, with
a collection of herbacceons plants, fruit trees of the
best kind and most healthy condition, large beds of
seeding apples, pears, plums, &c., as stocks for Mid
air? and grafting; a plan very superior to that of
working upon suckers, which carry with them into
the grail all the diseases Of the parent Meek. • •
"GAniatsr Sctns of the finest quality have been
scattered over the cotiiitry from-these grounds, rued
may al ways be depended upon. The seed establish
ment of these Horticulturists is one of the most ex
tensive in the Union, and its reputation is well sustain
ed from year to year. .
"To obviate the chance of mixture of the farina of
the plants of the same family, they have established
another nursery at a suitable distance, so that degene
ration cadnot take place, and which secures to the
purchaser . a 'genuine article. , Knowing thus the
age, quality and process of culture of every plant,
the supply fi'utn their grounds is recommended with
great coniidence."
Since the date of the 'Report' from which, the
above is extracted, the entire establishment has been
greatly enlarged. The collection of Camellias em
braces all the finer kinds, and consists of some thou
sands of various sizes; so likewise with Roses, and
other desirable plants, both tender and hardy; fruit
trees, Cc.
The Sped gardens alone cover filly acres, and the
whole is, as it has been for more thin half a century,
under the successive inanagerdent of killer and son,
the most prominent in America.

A CURE FQR CONSUMPTION
Seven Thousand cases el obstinate Pulmonary Com
plaints cured in one year! -
We ask the attention of the candid to a few con
siderations.
Nature, in every part of her works, has left indeli
ble marks of adaptation and design.
The constitution of the animals and vegetables of
the forest, is such that they could not endure the
cold of the frigid zone, and vice vesa.
In regard to diseases and its cure, the adaption is
more or less striking.
The Moss of Iceland, the Wild Cherry and Pines
of all Northern latitudes (and "Dr. WISTAR'S IlAt
sAst" is a compound chemical extract from these,)
have long been celebrated for complaints 'prevalent
only in cold-climates. Indeed the most distinguished
medical men have averred that nature furnishes in
every, country medicines for its oivn peculiar diseases.
Consumption in its confiamed and incipient stages
Coughs, Asthma, Croup and Liver Complain! form by
far tha most fatal class of diseases known to our
land. "Yet even these may be cured by means of the
simple yet powerful remedies (named above) and
which are scattered, by a beneficient Providence,
wherever those maladiesprevail.
ANOTHER. ASTONISHING CURE!
WISTAIef BALSAM Of WILD Cur.tinY, alivays trium
phaut! cure follows cure in its onward victorious
career!
DArrozi, Feb, Ilth, 1815
J. W. Triitmore.—Dear Sir: As youare the reg
ular authorized agent in Dayton, for the sale of "Dr.
Wistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry," I take this meth
od of making a statement or facts.to you which I
hope may be published to the world) in reference to
an almost miraculous cure, wrought in my case by
means of the above Inraluahle Balsam_
Language fails to describe the salutary effects it pro
duced, and the great benefit I derived from its use.
The citizens of Dayton and vicinity, well recol
lect that on the Bth of August last, I received seri
ous
injury from the explosion of a cannon. A nor-' .
tion of its contents entered my right side and breast-, !
and in all probability, some fragments or splinters of
the rani-rod passed through , the "plum," and pierced
the Lungs.
• After the lapse of about six weeks, I was attacked
with a distressing cough and a violent pain in my
right side. Some ten days after this when in a par
oxysm of coughing, suddenly and ULCER broke, and
a large quantity of very offensive rustler, mixed
with blood, was discharged•, most of which found
passage through the opening of the wound. From
this epening there frequently passed a quantity of
air, supposed to issue from the lungs. During all
this time my sufferings were almost intolerable.
My physicians. meanwhile paid the strictest atten
tion to me, and did all in their power for my recov
ery. But with all their skill they could not reach
the seat of distress, after the Lungs had become affect
ed. I was visited during this time by at least twenty
Physicians.
it was now reduced to a certainty, that inflamation
qf the lungs was rapidly taking place; and that this
would terminate my life in a very short time, was in
the highest degree probabic.
At this critical stage, a messenger was despatched
to Cincinnati, and a celebrated Physician of that
place was consulted. When he was made acquaint r
ed with my situation, he remarked that nothing could
be done by medical aid, if the constitution itself was
not sufficient to throw off the disease. •
My friends now despaired of my recovery, and I
had no earthly ground of hope to survive many days.
Fortunately at this juneture, I saw one of Dr. Nis
tar's Pamphlets, entitled "Family Medical Guide,"
nr "Treatise on Consumption of the Lungs." As I
had often heard of dying me "catching at straws,"
I felt this doing so myself. By the consent of my
Physicians, I sent to yoelbr a bottle of the medicine
described viz: "Waster's Balsam of Wild Cherry,"
which relieved me almost immediately. After I
had used sonic five or six bottles I sofar recovered as
to be up and about. My cough ceased, and my lungs
were restored to a healthy state—all from the heal
ing and balmy influence and powetful medicinal vir
tues of IVistar's Balsam.
Were it not from the external injury I received in
my shoulder and arm by the explosion, I feel confi
dent that I might have:been working at my trade
(which is blacksmithing,) but this has prevented.
By exposure, I have since taken several severe
colds, and my only remedy has been "the balsam."
And I now most cordially recommend the genuine
lVistar's Balsam to all Who are •aftlicted with Colds,
Coughs, or Lung Complaints. 1 consider it an inval
uable medicine—a real blessing to the world. Any
person desiring further information, may call on me
any time. yours truly,
