31A. Whitraere,--_Dear Sir' youare the reg
ularantherited agent In Dayton, for the sale or "Dr
' Wistar's Balsam of Wildl-Chiery," I take this meth
od of making a statement of facts tq you (which I
hope may be published to the 'world) in reference to
an almost iniraoulotia cure, wrought in my case by
means of the above Invaluable Balsant,
Language faits to describe the salutary -effects it pro-,
duce& and the great benefit I derived front its ate.
The citizens of Dayton and vicinity, well recoi
-1 lect that on the Bth of` August last, I received seri
ous injury from the explosion of a cannon. A per-1
tioi; of its contents entered my right side and breast;
and is all probability, some frignionts or splinters on
the rant-rod passed through the "plural" and pierced;
rthe Lungs.
After the lapse of about six weeks, I was attacked
with a distressing cough and a violent pain in myl
right side. Some ten days after this when in a par
lorysm of roughing, suddenly and vises broke, and I
a large quantity of very offensive matter, mixed
with blood, was discharged; most of which found I.
passage through the opening of the wound. From(
this epening there frequently passed a quantity of
air,, supposed to issue from the lungs. During all
this time my sufferings were almost intolerable.
My physicians, meanwhile paid the'strietest atten
tion to me, and did all in their power for my recov
ery. But with all their skill they Could not reach
the seat of distress, after the Lungs had become affect- .
ed. I was visited during this time by at least twenty
Physicians. •
It was now reduced to a certointy, that intimation
of the lungs was rapidly taking place; and-that this
would terminate my life in a very short time, was in
the highest degree probable.
At this critical stage, a messenger, ,was despatched
to Cincinnati, and a celebrated Physician of that
place was consulted. When he waa made acquaint
ed with my situation, he remarked thitt nothing could
be done by medical aid, if the constitution itself was
not sufficient to throw off the diaeose.
My friends now despaired a my recovery, and I
had no earthly ground of hope to survive many days.
Fortunately at.this juncture, I saw June of Dr, this--
I tax's. Pamphlots, °miffed "Family Medical Guide,"
or "Treatise on Consumption of the Lungs." As I
had often heard of dying men "catching at straws,"
I telt this doing set myself. By the consent of my
Physicians, I sent to you for a bottle of the medicine
described vizi < 4 Wlstar's Balsam of Wild Cherry, , .
which- relieved me almost immediately. Atter I
had used some five or six bottles I safer recovered as
to be up and about. My cough ceased, and my lungs
were restored to a healthy state—rall from the heal
ing nod balmy influence andpowerful medicinal vir
tues of Wistar's Balsam. .. •
Were irnot front the external injury I recoiled in
my shaulder and arnt by the explosion, I feel coal.:
dent that I might have been working at my trade
(which is blacksmithing,) hut this has prevented:
By. exposure, I have since taken several severe
doldscand my only remedy has been "the balsam."
And I now most cordially recommend ;the genuine
Widnes Balsam to all who are afflicted with Colds,.
Coughs, or Lung Coutptaints. I consider it meinyal
liable medicine-4 real blessing to th'd world. Any
person desiring further information, may call me
any time, yours
