J. H'. Whitmore.—Dear Sir: As youare the reg
ular authorized agent in Dayton, for the sale of "Dr.
Wistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry," I take this meth
od of making a statement a to you (which I
hope may he published to the world) in reference to
an almost miraculous care, wrought in toy case by
means of the above Invalunble linhvrm.
Language fails tii describe the salutary effects it pro
duced, and the great benefit I derived from its use.
The citizens tit' Dayton and vicinity, well recol
lect that on the Full of August last, I received seri
cite, injury from the explosion of a cannon. A por
tion of its contents entered my right side and breast;
and in all probability, sonic fragments or splinters of
the ram-rod passed through the "plum," and pierced
the Lungs.
After the lapse of about six weeks, I wits attacked
with a distressing cough and a violent pain in my
right side. Seine ten days atter this when in a par
ozysm of coughin^, suddenly and merit broke, and
a large pi:flinty of very offensive matter, mixed
with blood, was discharged; most of which. fnund
passage through the opening of the wound. From
this epening there frequently passed a quantity of
air, supposed to issue from the lungs. During all
this Nine my sufferings were almost intokrabie.
Ms physicians, meanwhile paid the strictest atten
tion to me, and del all in their power for my recov
er•. Hut with all their skill they could not reach
the seat of distress. qr . ter the Lungs had become affect
ed. I was visited during this time by at least twenty
Physicians.
It was now reduced to a certainty, that inflmnation
of the lungs ,roo rapidly taking place; and that this
would terminate tny life in a very short time, was in
the highest degree probable.
At this critical stage, a messenger wan despatched
to Cincinnati, and a celebrated Physician of that
place was consulted. When he Was made acquaint
ed with my situation, he remarked that nothing could
be done by medical aid, it' the constitution itself was
not sufficient to throw off the disease.
My friends now despaired of my recovery, and I
had no earthly ground of hope to survive many days.
Fortunately at thin juncture, I saw one of Dr. Wis
tar's Pamphlets, entitled "Family Medical Guide,"
or "Treatise on Consumption of the Lungs." As I
had often heard of dying men "catching at straws,"
I felt this doing so myself. By the consent of my
Physicians, I sent to you for a bottle of the medicine
described viz: "Wistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry,"
which relieved mo almost immediately. Atter I
had used some five or six bottles I solar recovered as
to be up and about. My cough ceased, and my lungs
were restored to a healthy state—all from the heal
ing and balmy influence and poweiful medicinal vir
tues of Wistar's Balsam.
'Were it not from the external injury I received in
my shoulder and'arm by the explosion, I feel confi
dent that I might have been working at my trade
(which is blacksmithing,) but this has prevented.
By exposure, I have since taken several severe
colds, and my only remedy has bega "the balsam."
And I now most cordially reetunrenErad the genuine
Wistar's Balsam to all who are - afflicted with Colds,
Coughs, or Lung Complaints. I consider it an inval
uable medicine—a real blessing to the world. Any
person desiring further information, may call on me
any time. yours truly,
CIIRISTOPHER It. SMYTH.

RARE CHANCE FOR GOOD INVESTMENTS!
The subscriber has laid :out, and now offers for
sale at reasonable prices and on accommodating
terms, one hundred and ten building lots, on that
handsome level ground between Braddock street and
the Monongahela river. They are about one-third
of a mile from the city line, and aro situated in that
part of the city district which will probably soon be
annexed to the city as the Seventh - Ward. No pro
perty in the suburbs possesses superior advantages,
nor has any heretofore been laid out with so liberal
an allowanco , of wide streetii Braddock is from one
hundred and twenty to aboutone }Mildred and ninety
feet wide, and Beeler', ComMerce, Brady, Columbus
amf Water streets, all widel avenues. Most of the
lots have two fronts, and as they are of various sizes,
and will be sold one lot, with the priuilege of four or
five, early applicants can be', accommodated to suit
their own views of improveMent. Persons who de
sire to build br to make secure investments in pro
perty that is sure to advance in value, and particular
ly those who i intend to erect nianuthctories would
do well to view these lots mid examine the draft be
fore purchasing elsewhere. ...The survey for the Bal
timore and Ohio railroad and the railroad survey by
the State of Pennsylvania were both made alongside
of this property, and it is generally considered that
Braddock street, or the ground immediately alongside.
of it, affords!the only eligible route for a railroad
from Pittsburgh to the East. : Coal can be delivered
on this property at a much less cost than on the Al
legheny river, and there is always deep water at this
part of the river. E. D. GAZZAII,
