Had the motion prevailed, it is understood that Mr C Jlngersoll would have moved an amendment to they item relative to the contingent fund, with a view of' making his promised statement respecting the alleged official delinquency of Mr Webster. He will, however, do it col Monday. The House then went into commit teeof the whole, and pissed one private bill relative to a patent man ger stopper. Having done thin, they went loll) com mittee upon another private bill to pay an old soldier sixty jeers of age a few hundred dollars,, but without disposing of if. the committee rose and the House, at an early hour, adjourned. The New York papers are teaming with exaggera• ted accounts of the riots among the workmen at the Atlantic Dock In Brooklyn, some of them announcing several Germans to have been killed. and others that about thirty were missing. The N Y Commercial of Saturday afternoon, however, contradicts all these stories, and says: "We visited the neighborhood at an early hour this morning. There was no farther disturbance last everting. Yesterday morning the Germans returned to work with the exception of the thirty, who, heating n fight , was on hand, wisely concluded to remain on the New York side of the river. About eleven o'clock, A M. Sheriff Swarteope and officer Clayton saw two Germans giiirg down Colum bia street toward the dock, followed by two Irishmen• SuspeMing trouble the officers followed, and shortly after the Irishmen attacked the Germans and were arrested on the spot.
