One carrier of the ex. tensive building was used as a smoke-house. and was divided into two apartments. The first apartment was filled with hams and shoulders ready to be smoked and the second apartment, thirty feet square, nearly, tilled. In the latter apartment four men were at work, hanging the hams{ two near the top of the smokehouse' and two about ten feet lower down.
