quaintance with the origin of disease, and the actual
structure of the human system are the only remedy
• which can be positively relied on. Being composed
!, of a variety of ingredients entirely different from, and
1 independent of each other in their mode of operation;
s" they never fail to teach the seat of disease, in what
ever shape it may appear. Thus, if the liver be affect

The hour for the meeting of the House (ten o'• '
clock, A M,) having arrived, and the honorable Spea
ker not appearing, the baker's dozen of members i
present became as excited as a disturbed anthill, and
ere the minute hand of the clock had advanced three
minutes beyond the XII, the clerk was emphatically
asked to cell the House to order. Ho almost inplor
ed for • few minutes delay, assuring the members
present that the Speaker would appear, but it was no
go—the "selvage" of a House present insisted, and
the clerk, thus pressed, gave the premonitory raps fur
attending prayers. gee IXIr Tuaton addressed the
throne of grace, in his usual solemn and impressive
manner. Mr Charles J Ingersoll then moved that
Gen M'K'sy, of North Carolina, take the chair until
the Speaker shoslci arrive. The question was put by
the clerk and carried, arid Gen M'Kay took the Spea
kers chair. Then followed the usual routine of bust.
nem—acall of the Husse—a motion to adjourn—a
a motion to go into committee, and various other pro
positions incident to the uneasy and excitable House
of .Representatives, for, although the members, indi.
sir-loony, are the most peaceable, orderly, lamb-like
gentlemen in the world, collectively they are like ■
stirred up beehive, humming here and buzzing there,
as if legislation and buzz were inseperabie comport-
A call was ordered and commencixf, and suspended.
At this point, the noblo form of the Speaker appear.
ed at the front door, he walked down the centre

and "calm as a summer's morning," he proceeded
with the business of the, House. The journal was
read, and the Howse immediately went Into commlttee

From thereadiug.we gather that to December Mr

Mr Buchari•n, stating scale hypothetically—that 1., if
Great Britain would arbitrate as to the title, and leave
the arbitrators to divide that country bet ween the U

not afford her the necessary relief. I must confess,
we ourselves had very little inith in the matter, know

standing, and had been uneuecessfully treated by the
most eminent Physicians of this and several neighbor
