COLD WEATHER.—On Saturday night last, the
weather begarrio get cold again, and there has been
some hard freezing siace. However, it, seems to bel
.moderating now, and there is no reason to,supposel
that the present "cold snap" will last. By the way,l
this winter bu been a very severe one in this region,
and indeed, it would seem to have been unusually rig
.orous all oiler the- country. There has already Leen
iin..ugh sharp weather with us to onsvrer for two on
three winters, and we therefore confidently look for
an early and a pleasant spring.

By the schooner Joertina, Martinze, ma: tc:, which
sailed from Tampico on the Ist rose., rend arrived here
yesteldnv, we lcnrn that Gen. Paredes had raised
the standard of revolutiMi, and matchedmpon Mexico
with 6,000 men. The administration had no means ap
posing hie progress, and the probability was that ho•
fore the vessel sailed he was in possession of the. gov
ernment. The policy of Herrera towards the United
States has been the proximate cause of the revolution,
the war-cry having been raised thronghonc the country,
end the mob of soldiers end others excited to dant pitch
'tf mednce.: which would induce them to attempt the
overthrow of any government that counselled peace
with this country. If Paredes has succeeded, the
mission of Mr. Slidell will of course be unsuccessful,
and the two countries will remain in a state of doubt
ful hostilities, Which it will be the duty of our govern
ment to bring t 6 an immediate termination. The la
test dates which the Joaquina brought from the city
''lof Mexico, are to the I?th ult., later were received
some days since by the St. Mary's from Vera Crur.
In the limpets we find nothing worth translating. The
abuse.of the government by the opposition journals,
and the weak defence made by the papers in the in•
I terest of the government, are too familiar to nor rsa
i dens to deserve repetition.—N. 0. Delta of the 9th
