the Empressrin, Copt Collins, the Now Orleans Pic
ayune has full files of Havanna papers to the lath inst.
On the 6th inst the royal mail steamer Medway ar
ved from Vera Cruz, with $600,000 in specie. Her
dates from the city of Mexico are only to the 27 th ult.
—two days later than we have received direct.
The mail-steamer Tweed arrived the same day from
Jamaica, with 550 flasks of quicksilver. The same
day, ton, the French bri; of war La Mercure arrived
from Pensacola.
It is stated in the Faro Industral that Baron Al
leye de Cyprey was a pusenger on the Medway. Pen
sacola accounts had incorrectly mentioned that he
took his passage on the Eurydice.
In leaving Vera Crux, the British steamer met the
Spanish frigate Christina, which left Havana on the
15th ultimo.
General Canalize, the ex-provisional president of
Mexico, has taken passage, with his son, from Ha
vane for Cadiz, in the Spanish chip Thetis. He pur
poses travelling through the peninsula.
The Mexican troops stationed at Jalapa, which,
according to come estimates. amounted to 4000 men,
have been ordered into cantonments at Paw de
Ovejes, a smell place half way between Vera Crux
and the former city. The general in command was
expected daily in Vera Crux when the Medway sailed,
intending to remain there.
The incident in regard to the sailing of the St Mary's
from Vera Cruz, and the offer of aid from the Monte
zuma, is mentioned in the Havana papers.
The death of an illustrious rialto.° of the Catholic
church, the Archbishop of Guatemala and Bishop of
Havana, is announced is the Dario of the 10th inst.
We find .omo speculatiosu in regard to the sugar
crop in the Diurio. The write! is of opinion that the
amount of the product of the island has been eagle.

The Metican Secretary of the Treasury issued a cir
cular on the 42d of October, by direction of the Presi
dent. qualifying gravely, and captaining the details of
the tariff as prnmulgaled a few days ago. The diffi
culty was occaainned by some iwportant errors in
printing ;he tariff, which was put into circUlation on
the 4th ult. We note this matter for the brnrfit of
merchants n horn it may concern.
An ordinance is published in 'h. Flavann papers,
deter' the Bth inst., providing for refunding the prier
of the tickets taken in the royal lottery, El Empr t•
dada, the drawing having been postponed, owing to
the sale of tickets not having produced a ■am ode
crate for the purposes for which the lottery was pro
jected.
