COtIRESPONDENTS
In reference to communications which mnv appear
in this paper, we haveone or two remarks to make.—
We will insert none without the name of the author be
inz fast made known to us, and when inserted, must al•
ways be taken as expreasiveuf the views of eke
and not the eater of this paper, unless the views no
expressed are editorially remarked upon and approved.
Miss Prrittes Bantrur.—The performances of
this evening are for the Benefit of Miss Purata.
The pieces selected for the evening "Charlie the
Second" and the “Softambelist," are decidedly ex
cellent. It Isnot necessary for us to Bay Gne word to
induce the patrons of the Drama to attend. Miss P.
i s a u n i v ersal favorite, and we have no doubt this fact
will be made strikingly evident by a crowded house
tonight.
Swiss BELL RtinEns.—The Swiss Bell Ringers
will be in town to-night, and we would advise the
managers of the Theatre, to be on the alert, and en
gage them by all means. We are aware that a small
advance on the present Nice,' would be required, in
order to defray the expense, consequent upon such an
arrangement, but we feel ausured that the public will
ssilliegiy comply with the small additional demand.
and cram the house every night of their engagement.
New DRY Goods Bvoite.—Mr James Doyle, late
of Philadelphia, has opened a large and excellent
imsortment of Dry Goods at No. 58, Market. between
3J and 4th 'treas. Give him a call. See advertise.

FIRE AT PHILADELPHIA
The Ledger states that the fire on Wednesday even.
ing was quite a destructive one, destroying, as it did,
n large frame building and an extensive brick one ad•
joining, with all the machinety, and a large quantity
of material, &c. The flame wan occupied by J. T.
Holloway. for the manufacture of patent leather, who
has lost some $l5OO or $2000; by Joseph iVilke, cot.
ton spinner, whuie loss is from two to three thousand
dollars; and by George Knight. carpet manufacturer,
whose loss is several hundred dollars—no insurance.—
The brick factory was occupied by J. E. Eldridge, for
the manufacture of cotton yarn, whose loss is from
oix to eight thousand dollars. Mr. E's loss is, how.
ever, nearly covered by insurance.
IMPORTANT II cson.—The New York Journal of
Commerce stntes that it was rumored that Mr Park
, enham, the British Minister at Washington, finding
there is little hope of adjusting the Oregon question
either by compromise or arbitration, has proposed to
leave the Thole territory in its present condition for
20 years, under the joint protection of England and the
United States, and with the stipulation that at the
end of said period, its then inhabitants mny attach
themselves to either country, or erect themselves into
an independent sovereignty, as they may prefer.
U S SICN•TOR.- It is said that Mr Carroll; one of
the editors of the New Hampshire Patiim, will he
appointed U S Senator from that State in place of M
Woodbury, resigned.

DISEASE OP THE LIVER.
Hess Stfe—Agreenble to your desire, I write to
keep you apprized of the prospects of the Clickener
Sugar Coated Purgative Pill, in this city. You may
recollect,. when I first commenced selling vour medi
cine, whic;i was in May, 13-.4, we little dreamed of
the success that would crown the undertaking. Our
ipremises kind been no completely flooded by the one
thousand and one unsaleable remedy for every pnssl-
I ble complaint under the sun, that 1 art iously contain-
plated having nothing mere to do with any thing of the
kind. However, at the most urgent , ilicitation, WO
consented to make a trial of yours. At first we found
considerabledilTiculty in, wheeling puldic attention to
wards them. People had been so often deceived by
the vile compounds which have flooded the -country for
the last 15 years or more, that they determined, if
possible, never tube "taken in" agaite anti rite conse
quence was, they could hardly be persuaded to accept
of the Pills, as the saying is, for "love nor money."
Thus matterra proceeded fur a week or two, when, as
."goal luck would have it, "Mrs. a lady of
our city, who had long suffered from an affection of
the Liver, accompanied by indigestion of the meet ob
i !tingle character, an persuaded toacrept of a box, on
I condition that nothing was to be paid for it, if they did
not aflurd her the necessary relief. I most confess,
we ourselves had very little faith in the matter, know.
ine ' as we did, that her complaint was one of long
stareding, end had been unsuccessfully treated by the
most eminent Physicians of this and several neighbor
ing towns. But we had determined to give the medi•
rine a fair trial, and if it preyed to be worthless, it
would be a source of set isfitction to know it, both to
you and to tie. No less to urir joy than surprise, how
ever, only a few days had elapsed, when the lady again
presented herself at our counter and enquired for anoth
ler box. "I really think, Mr. Williams," says she,
I '
that your Pills ate beginning to work n great change
lin my health, and altogether for the better. When I
took the second dose, I began to feel much betterthan
I did at fustl the pain in my side was considerably re
lieved; my appetite began to improve; and the blood
seemed to circulate through my veins as it did in my
youthful days. Since t hen, I have taken the remainder
of the Pills, and my improvement has been sensibly._
progressing at every repetition of the dose. I have
no doubt that a few mote boxes will effectually cure
me." The result was as she predicted. Her health
is completely restored. The flush of youth and beau
ty has returned to her cheeks, and the prospect of a
lung and a happy life is before her. I am swished
she will never forget the CI ickener Sugar-Coned Pills.
A. might naturally be supposed, the news of this ex
unordinary elate was rapidly disseminated throughthe
city and adjacent country; and scarcely a week bleat
elapsed, before enquiries began to be made fur Clink
prier's Sugar-Coated Purgative Pills; and the demand
has already imitated to such an extent. that we find
the greatest difficulty in supplying it. In fact, if it did
not seem like exaggeration, I might almost say that we
are literally besieged by women, and children, labors
ing under every possible ailment e bias '•htnnetu flesh

asthmatic, censumptive, and dyspeptic, are thronging
our doors in pursuit of the neverdidling Panacea.—
Testimonials of its salutary effects are voluntarily
flowing in upon us from every' varlet. One person
informs us he has been relieved of a most obstinate
