tiro elect, David Thomas, of Great Berd, was last
week drowned in the Delaware river, while taking his
lumber to market. We are informed that the cir
cumstances were such as to give rise to such a con
clusion. But we are happy to learn that he returned
home a few days since in usual health—but sorry to
add that ho lost all his lumber, worth between $l5OO
and $2OOO, by his rafts being Clove and scattered in
the river. It is also estimated that more than one
hundred thousand dollars worth of lumber has been
lost upon that river during the late freshet—and alto
that many of the fall crops on the fiats have been
swept off.
