We will insert none without the name of the author be
ing fiat made known to us, and when inserted, must al

THI, EXTRA. —An Extra Poat will be issued about
9 o'clock this morning, which will contain, in full, the
proceeding. of the great Railroad Convention. It is
important that the Resolutions, Address and Memori
al, should have a wide circulation, and general reading.
The facts and arguments presented will go far to con
vince the people of Pennsylvania that their best inter
ests will be advanced by granting the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad Company the right of way to Pitts•
burgh.
Ftax,—About 171 o'clock this morning • fire brake
out, in the Brass Foundry of Messrs. Stephenson &
Reed, on Sixth street, between Wood and Liberty,
and entirely destroyed it. The Clothing Store of
Messrs. Ferren & McGurk Wel also nearly destroyed;
the contents, however, were principally saved.
To the prompt ■nd efficient action of our firemen,
and the calmness of the morning, is to be attributed ths
preservation of an incalculable amount of property, as
in the immediate vicin'ty of the fire is situated many
of our large Clothing Stores and other Mercantile es
tablishments.
ME Tar HOUR Mcuriac in Allegheny city last
evening was, like all before it, a very large one. The
Factory girls were all there, and the little boys who
work in those establishments were also there, and
then them were a greet many Mechanics and laborers
present, who swelled the numbers of the main.
The Committees appointed to collect subscriptions
made report. They have been reasonable successful
in collecting, and each one said that nearly all he re
ceived wad from Meehanics and working men. T. M.
Carothers presided and Mr. Peckham acted es Secre
tary. Speeches were made by Messrs. Watson, ‘Vil
son, Caruthers and others. The remarks of the first
and last named gentlemen were excellent and the mane
greeted them with cheers.
At 9 o'clock this morning the Treasurer and com
mittees of collection meet at the Temperance Ark,
Allegheny city. A committee, consisting of tbtee of
the female operatives of each of the factories is to meet
with them and submit the names of those who are real.
ly in need, and who will receive money from the fund.
This is Saturday. Most Mechanics are paid fur
their week's labor to-day. Will not even• branch of
Mechanics feel that they have an interest in thin voli
