Our rivers have been in good order, and the Monon
gahela and Allegheny have both risen to abOut 4 feet,
which makes them and the Ohio all in good Naviga
ble order for Steamboating and a good business—and
from appearances and the weather, we hope for en
early rise in the Allegheny to let out the Lumber,
&c., and revive the trade on that River. We see a
great many goods arriving and opening, and our Mer

Beef Cattle—The offerings at the scales amount to
803 head, of which 155 remain unsold, and all of the
balance; 648 head, were taken by citj butchers at pri
ces ranging from $1,50 to $3,75 per 100 lbs on the
hoof, equal to $2,50,45,25 net. Ihe average rate of
sales is about $2,25.
llogs.—Live Hogs continue to arrive freely, and
the supply in market is quite large. Prices are un
changed and we quote, as before, at $4,50 for ordinary
to $5 fur prime. The demand is good, with sales to
a fair extent.
Flour—The market fur Howard Street Flour is very
quiet. At the time rf closing our last report the rate
generally asked was $4,56 1-4, with trifling sales;
but since that time holders have demanded a further
advance, and sales of some small 1103 were made on
Saturday at $4,62 1.2, which is the asking rate to
day. but no transactions have come under our notice
The quantity coming in is so limited that it is impos
sible to establish tie receipt mice. Sales to day of

Grain —Sales of good to prime reds at 2.5e88 ctsand
