Means. of brig Henry, nt New York, informs the Journal of Commerce that when he left it was re ported, by the U S Consul, that the combined fleets of England, France and Brazil were about blocking the port of Buenos Ayers. Thirty-two sail of British and French men-of-war were assembled in the liver, with more than WOOD troops on board. Our file of the British Packet is to June Ist; and Capt. Means sailed on the sth. ‘Vhat may have occurred in the interval we cannot tell; but there is nothing mentioned in the. Packet which could lead to the idea of n block. ade being probabie• Capt. Means reports that the brig Emily, Tomil eon, of Salem, war refused entrance into the port of Buenos Ayres because she had been spoken, while passing Monte Video by the United States sloop-of war Boston, which put some letters on board. The Packet gays that the matters in controversy with Brazil were in train for amicable adjustment The Monte Videans who took refuge in the Brazilian territory has been disarmed, and ex-President Rivera have been conducted, under escort, from the town of Pelotas, in the province of Rio Grande. Gen. Orihe had proclaimed an amnesty, inviting the fugitive Monte Videans to return in peace and safety. Loss of Life—Horrible Murders!—This morning nbout two o'clock, the extensive stare loom of Puter baugh & Allison was discovered on fire. Their entire stock of goods, probably to the amount of ten thou sand dollars were destroyed. The large brick build ing occupied by Puterbaugh & Allison, store keepers. A B Beal, harness maker and Samuel Crumbaugh, hat store was consumed. The large brick occupied by D D Williamson, grocer, D Barr, bookseller and part ly as a dwellin• by two or three families', was also de stroyed. The loss of property cannot be less than from fifteen to twenty thousand dollars. None of the buildings were insured. The most deplorable part of tb. calamity, was the loss or two very estirmible young men. James Kenny and %Vm Steele, clerks of Putelhaugh & Allison, who slept in the store. %%lien the flames were discovered and the door burst open, Mr Kenny was found lying against the front door, senseless, cut and bruised to a cen4iderable extent. Mr Steele was discovered lying in bed, probably senseless, but could not be rescued in consequence of the flames. His body was afterwards discovered in the cellar where it bad fallen through. The back door of the storeroom was standing open, from which it is pretty conclusive that a most foul murder bee been committed, and the store set on fire. [ Xenia 0. Jefferson Extra, Aug. 3.
